SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team blanked visiting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Clarion University, 9-0, Thursday in its regular-season finale.
The win extended The Rock's win streak to three matches and improved their season records to 12-8 overall and 2-3 in division competition.
Clarion's season records dropped to 3-9 overall, 0-5 in the PSAC-West.
Leading the way for The Rock were the No. 1 doubles team of freshmen
Sarah Joumond and
Kasey Love, who won an 8-1 decision, and senior
Janelle Krantz, who recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 4 singles match.
Love also chalked up a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 2 singles match.
With regular season play over, The Rock must wait till Tuesday to learn if they will receive a sixth consecutiv e berth in the NCAA Division II national tournament.
