SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University's women's tennis team (7-5) saw its seven-match win streak come to an end Saturday with a 5-4 loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western rival Mercyhurst University.
Saturday's match was The Rock's first PSAC-West match of the season.
Mercyhurst improved its season record to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC- West.
Leading The Rock effort was junior
Samantha Bruggeman, who won a 6-1, 6-2 decision in the No. 6 singles match and teamed with freshman
Courtney Gallagher for an 8-3 win in No. 3 doubles.
Also, picking up points in singles were
Elisabeth Yetiskul at No. 3 and
Lauren Coggins at No. 5.
The Rock's next match is scheduled for Tuesday, when they will play PSAC-West rival Indiana (Pa.) in a 3:30 p.m. match.
The Rock's next home match will be April 9 vs. defending conference champion California (Pa.).
