HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team beat Winston Salem-State University, 7-2, Thursday afternoon to start off its spring break matches. The win was The Rock's second consecutive and improved their season record to 2-4. Winston-Salem State, which is an NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rival of The Rock, saw its season record drop to 3-5.
The Rock's victory came from a strong showing in all of their doubles matches including a come-from-behind victory by
Samantha Bruggeman and
Courtney Gallagher in No. 3 doubles.
The Rock continue their spring break schedule Sunday with a 1 p.m. match vs. Nebraska Wesleyan in Hilton Head Island.
