Wexford, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team fell 6-3 to Robert Morris University in a non-conference match Friday.
The loss dropped the Rock's record to (0-4), while the Colonials (1-6) picked up their first win.
“It was a disappointing loss that we should have won,” head coach
Matt Meredith said, “We were down, came back, and then lost.”
Elisabeth Yetiskul and
Lauren Coggins each stepped up and recorded singles victories.
Yetiskul, The Rock's No. 3 singles player, won in straight sets, 6-0 and 7-6 (7).
Coggins, playing in the No. 5 singles match, defeated her opponent 7-6 (2) and 7-6 (6).
Coggins also teamed up with
Janelle Krantz to win an 8-4 decision in the No. 2 doubles match.
The Rock's next match will be March 1 vs. Division III Grove City College at the Oxford Athletic Club.
