SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Slippery Rock University men's soccer team will travel to Gannon University Wednesday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match at 4 p.m.

Rankings: Slippery Rock moved up seven places this week to No. 8 in the latest national rankings, marking the highest ranking in program history for The Rock. SRU is also the top-ranked team in the Atlantic Region. Gannon does not currently rank nationally or in the top 10 in the region.
Records: Slippery Rock enters the weekend with an overall record of 9-1-1 and a PSAC mark of 4-1. The Rock is riding a six-game winning streak and is coming off back-to-back road wins at Bloomsburg and Lock Haven last weekend.
Gannon enters the game with a 5-7 overall record and a 4-4 mark in PSAC games. The Golden Knights are riding a two-game winning streak with a 1-0 win over Seton Hill and a 5-1 win over Pitt-Johnstown.
Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is outscoring opponents 26-7 and outshooting the opposition 181-134.
Stephen Donnelly leads the team in scoring with five goals and two assists, while
Michael Ramirez has matched him for the team lead in goals with five an also has one assist.
Zach Hall has three goals and three assists to rank third in scoring, while
Dom Francis has three goals and two assists,
Brandon Chiu has three goals and
Joshua Gray has a team-high six assists to cap the top scorers.
The defensive unit of Gray,
Declan Brennan,
Josh Brake,
Ryan Boylan and
Nick Kutcher has helped the team post a PSAC and Atlantic Region leading 0.62 goals against average through nine games.
The goalkeeping duo of
Chris Zier and
Joe Agerskow rank first in the PSAC and the Atlantic Region in goals against average and save percentage. Zier holds the top spot with a 0.63 goals against average, which ranks 14th nationally, and an .886 save percentage, which ranks fourth nationally. Two of the four goals he has allowed were penalty kicks. Agerskow owns a 0.60 goals against average and an .864 save percentage with three shutouts in five starts.
Streaking: The Rock has been defeated in just five games dating back to the beginning of last season, going unbeaten in 27-of-32 games.
Scouting the Golden Knights: Gannon is outscoring opponents 23-19 and is being outshot 171-160.
Robbie Bennett leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and two assists for 26 points, which also ranks him first in the region and ninth in the nation in scoring.
Niko Popovich is the second-leading scorer on the team with four goals and three assists, while Alex Perri has two goals and four assists and Sean Pike leads the team with five assists. Bennett and Popovich have accounted for 70% of all Gannon's goals this year.
Three keepers have seen action between the posts, but Jason Barbarino has received the starting nod in every game but one. He owns a 4-6 record with a 1.72 goals against average and a .710 save percentage. Matthew Dixon has played just over 149 minutes and is 1-1 with a 0.60 goals against average and a .923 save percentage.
Series: Slippery Rock owns a 21-9-1 advantage in the all-time series, including two wins last year when The Rock upset the Golden Knights in Erie to get into the PSAC playoffs and then eliminated Gannon in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament, also in Erie.

Ryan Lutke scored an unassisted goal with just 39 seconds left in the second overtime to send Slippery Rock to a 2-1 win and to the PSAC semifinals Nov. 1, 2012 in Erie.
Slippery Rock scored in the 76th minute with a goal from
Josh Brake that was assisted by
Joshua Gray, but Gannon answered in the 83rd minute to tie the game at 1-1 and send it to overtime.
Clayton Master made seven saves in goal for Slippery Rock, while Jason Barbarino made five saves in the loss for Gannon.
Gannon posted a 21-13 edge in total shots in the game. Both teams were awarded five corner kicks.
Head Coaches: Michael Bonelli is in his fourth season at the helm of the Slippery Rock program. Bonelli has posted a record of 38-20-10 during his SRU tenure. He has led the program to two berths in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs and one appearance in the conference title game.
Rob van Rheenen is in his 17th season as the head coach at Gannon, where he has led the team to a 168-123-14 career record. He oversaw the team's transition from the GLIAC to the PSAC and has led the team to double-digit wins in 12 of his years at the helm. Last season, he led Gannon to a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16.
Up Next: Slippery Rock will host four consecutive home games before closing the regular season with a trip to Shippensburg Nov. 2. The home stretch kicks off Saturday night at 7 p.m. when Mercyhurst visits Mihalik-Thompson Stadium on Homecoming.
