SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team will host a pair of home matches this weekend when it welcomes California University (Pa.) for a 12:30 p.m. match Friday and Shippensburg for a 3:30 p.m. match Saturday.
Locations: The California game Friday will be played at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The Shippensburg game Saturday will be played at James Egli Field.

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock enters the weekend with a 4-1-3 overall record and a 0-1 mark in the PSAC. The pair of games mark the fourth and fifth consecutive home games for The Rock.
Slippery Rock is outscoring opponents 21-9 and outshooting the opposition 155-92 through eight games. The Rock scored just 24 goals in 17 games last year, but after last week's games was leading the PSAC in total goals scored in 2012.
Stephen Donnelly leads the team with four goals and one assist, while
Chris Davis has added three goals and one assist.
Mike Roopchandsingh has two goals and three assists and
Brandon Chiu has two goals and two assists.
Michael Ramirez,
Joshua Gray and
Max Aronica all have two goals and one assist to cap the leading scorers.
Clayton Master has started seven games in goal for SRU and is 3-1-3 with two shutouts. He has allowed seven goals for a goals against average of 0.93 and has made 24 saves for a .774 save percentage.
Joe Agerskow has started one game and is 1-0, has allowed two goals for a 1.73 goals against average and has made five saves for a .714 save percent.
Scouting the Vulcans: California struggled out of the gates and enters today's game with a 3-5 overall record, including an 0-2 mark in conference games.
California is being outscored 13-12 and is outshooting opponents 108-84 on the season. The Vulcans are led by Jeffrey Kyei with four goals and one assist. Chris Moehler has added three goals and one assist and Billy Watson is the only other player with multiple goals with two. Brad Colvin has one goal and one assist and Paul Silverstone and Christopher Karns each have one goal to cap the goal scorers. Five other players have one assist to round out the scorers.
Shane Donovan has started every game in goal for the Vulcans and is 3-5 with one shutout. He has allowed 12 goals for a 1.63 goals against average and has made 22 saves for a .647 save percentage.
Scouting the Raiders: Shippensburg, which reached the NCAA playoffs in each of the last two seasons, enters the weekend with a 1-4-2 overall record and a 0-1-1 PSAC mark. The Raiders will play at Lock Haven Friday before visiting SRU Saturday.
Shippensburg enters the weekend being outscored 13-10, but is outshooting its opponents 127-97. The Raiders are led by Sam Talbot with three goals and three assits, while Jonathan DeNicola has one goal and one assist. Six other players have recorded one goal and two others have one assist on the year to round out all the scorers.
Shippensburg has used three starting keepers entering the weekend. Kevin Hollasch has seen the most minutes and is 0-3-2 with a 1.51 goals against average and a .771 save percentage. Clay Sale is 1-1 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .556 save percentage. Andrew Foran is 0-0 with a 4.45 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.
Head Coaches: Michael Bonelli is in his third season at the helm of the Slippery Rock program. Bonelli has posted a record of 22-16-6 in his three seasons, including an 11-7-1 mark and a berth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs in 2010. Prior to his time at SRU, Bonelli spent five seasons as an assistant coach at the Division I level, with stints at Northwestern and Lafayette. He received a bachelor's degree in physical education from SUNY Cortland in 2004.
Dennis Laskey is in his 27th season as the head coach at California, where he is the longest tenured coach in the athletic department. Laskey has an overall record of 250-217-39 and has taken the Vulcans to the NCAA Tournament three times since 2004, with the most recent trip coming last season. Laskey played four years of soccer at Alderson-Broaddus before finishing his degree at California.
Jeremy Spering is in his fifth season at the helm of the Shippensburg program, where he has guided the team to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons. Spering, a 2002 graduate of Slippery Rock, will return to familiar grounds this weekend. He was a three-year letterwinner and a two-year starter for The Rock.
SRU-Cal Series: California owns a 17-4-2 edge in the all-time series, including a 1-0 win Sept. 16, 2011 in California.
In that game, Djamel Boudhar scored the lone goal off an assist from Paul Silverstone in the 22nd minute. Cal finished with a 9-6 advantage in total shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Both teams were credited with three shots on goal.
Charlie Dagnal earned the shutout win for Cal with three saves.
Timothy White took the loss with two saves for SRU.
SRU-Ship Series: Slippery Rock owns a 22-10-4 advantage in the all-time series, including a 1-0 win at Shippensburg last season.

Chris Davis in the 59th minute to account for the lone score.
Slippery Rock posted advantages of 17-15 in total shots, 9-3 in shots on goal and 6-3 in corner kicks.
