Rock falls to West Chester, 83-43

Slippery Rock dropped its sixth straight game, falling 83-43 to West Chester in PSAC crossover action Tuesday night.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team dropped its sixth consecutive game Tuesday night with a 83-43 loss to West Chester in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover action at Morrow Field House.

The Golden Rams (5-2, 2-2 PSAC) scored the first eight points of the game and never looked back, running out to a 30-4 lead midway through the opening period and closing the half with a 41-16 advantage. Slippery Rock (1-6, 0-4 PSAC) scored 11 more points to post 27 in the second half but could never close the gap.

For the first time this season the opposition managed to hold Slippery Rock to no players in double figure scoring as The Rock posted a season-low final tally of 43 points. Alexas Brown led the way with nine points and Erica Aiello chipped in six points off the bench to cap the leading scorers. Emilee Vitez made her second start of the season and scored four points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Slippery Rock connected on 17-of-60 shots from the field (28.3 percent) for its second-worst shooting performance of the season. The Rock made 2-of-23 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc (8.7 percent) and was 7-of-16 at the free throw line (43.8 percent).

West Chester used two separate five-player lineups throughout the entire game, switching all five players at every media timeout. Brittany Sicinski led the way with a game-high 15 points, while Dallas Ely added 14 points and Jasmen Clark and Meghan Kerrigan each chipped in 12.

The Golden Rams became the second team this season to shoot better than 50 percent from the field against Slippery Rock, finishing with a 50.8 percent efficiency on 33-of-65 shooting. The visitors made 10-of-21 shots from long range (47.6 percent), connected on 7-of-9 free throws and posted a 47-35 rebounding advantage.

Slippery Rock will look to get back on track when winless Cheyney visits Morrow Field House Wednesday for a PSAC crossover at 5:30 p.m.
