Rock plays to scoreless draw at ESU

Slippery Rock settled for its fifth double overtime tie of the year after playing to a scoreless draw at East Stroudsburg late Saturday night.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team settled for its fifth double overtime tie of the season after playing to a scoreless draw at East Stroudsburg Saturday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

Saturday night's game was the latest of the season for SRU, with the final horn not sounding until 11:12 p.m. and coming after the second consecutive double overtime scoreless tie for The Rock.

Slippery Rock moves to 5-2-5 overall on the year and 1-2-2 in PSAC games. East Stroudsburg moves to 3-7-1 overall and 0-3-1 in PSAC action.

Slippery Rock was dominant in possession throughout the game, finishing with a 14-1 advantage in corner kicks, but The Rock struggled to get good looks on net. East Stroudsburg's defense smothered the corner kick attempts and helped the hosts post advantages of 16-13 in total shots and 4-3 in shots on goal.

Clayton Master earned his second straight shutout in net for Slippery Rock after recording three saves. The Rock was also credited with a team defensive save in the 109th minute that preserved the tie.

Callum Hampson made three saves in net to earn the shutout for ESU.

Chris Davis and Stephen Donnelly each finished with three total shots and one shot on target to lead the SRU offense. Nick Fischer and Andrew Cerda each finished with four shots to lead ESU.

Slippery Rock will make another long trip east Tuesday when it travels to West Chester for a 1 p.m. PSAC match.
