SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team sent its senior class out in style with a 3-0 victory over Lake Erie Tuesday night at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in The Rock's final home game of the season.

With the win, Slippery Rock improves to 7-3-5 overall. Lake Erie drops to 4-10 overall.

Tuesday night marked the final home game in the careers of Rock seniors Clayton Master, Drew Donoghue, Blake McChesney and Michael Ramirez and the foursome was honored in a pregame ceremony.

Slippery Rock came out firing in the opening period and got on the board with two first half goals, both on perfect finishes from Chris Davis. Davis set up Thad Madzelonka for a third goal in the second half and Master held the Storm off the scoresheet to preserve the shutout.

The Rock finished the game with advantages of 15-5 in total shots, including an 8-0 edge in the opening period, and 8-3 in shots on goal. Lake Erie posted a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

Master made three saves to earn the shutout in goal, his career-best sixth of the season. His counterpart, Filip Ljubevski made five saves in the loss for Lake Erie.

Davis opened the scoring in just the 11th minute when he beat three defenders along the left side of the box and fired a shot inside the far post for his fifth goal of the year.

He added his sixth of the year in the 41st minute with a diving header off a Joshua Davis corner kick that snuck inside the near post to make it 2-0 SRU going into the break.

Madzelonka put the game out of reach in the 69th minute after taking a pass from Davis along the right side and firing a hard shot off Ljubevski's hand and into the net for his second goal of the year.

Lake Erie pressed from there, earning six corner kicks in the second period, but Master was able to handle all three shots on target to preserve the shutout.

Slippery Rock will play its final three games of the regular season on the road, beginning with a visit to West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday for a 7 p.m. game. The Rock will close the conference schedule with road trips to Gannon Oct. 24 and Lock Haven Oct. 27.
