Ann Lueken loses battle with cancer

Wife of SRU Director of Athletics Paul Lueken passed away Tuesday morning

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University and The Rock athletic family mourn the passing Tuesday morning of Ann Lueken, wife of SRU Director of Athletics Paul Lueken.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Rock Catholic Center (formerly the Newman Center), 342 Normal Avenue, Slippery Rock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 670 S. Main Street, Slippery Rock. with Father Kevin Poecking officiating. Burial will follow at Slippery Rock Cemetary.

Rosary will be recited at the Parish Center at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Visiting Nurses Association, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, Pa. 16001 or to St. Peter's Parish, 342 Normal Avenue, Slippery Rock, Pa. 16057.

Ann lost her valiant 13-year battle with cancer Tuesday in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Olney, Ill., the daughter of Ed and Connie (Kuhl) Hahn, who now reside in Plant City, Florida.

Ann was an inspiration to everyone who faced difficult challenges in their lives, as she faced hers with unbelievable strength and courage. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was the leader of Ann's Angels, a member of St. Peter Parish and its RCIA Education Group, the Speech Pathologist National Association and was a representative for Cancer Reach for Recovery. She received both her bachelor and master degrees from Eastern Illinois University.

She was a loving mother and devoted wife to her husband, Paul Lueken, her son, Adam Patrick Rose of Charlottesville, VA and her daughter, Lindsey Ann Lueken, at home. Also surviving are her parents of Florida; three sisters and their husbands, Janet (Greg) Payne of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Linda (Marty) Murphy of St. Louis, Missouri, and Sharon (Kort) Dickson of Salisbury, Maryland; her mother-in-law, Marilyn Lueken of Marshall, Illinois; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Nancy (Rick) Stepp of Marshall, Illinois and Becky (Todd) Stewart of Wilmette, Illinois and two brothers-in-law and their wives, Ted (Lisa) Lueken of Dunlap, Illinois and Ben (Jeni) Lueken of Paris, Illinois. She was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Arthur Lueken.
