Rock falls 20-4 to No.1 West Chester

Freshman Amy Halls scored all four goals for The Rock Wednesday and finished the two game spring break trip with five goals to lead the team.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Slippery Rock lacrosse team dropped a 20-4 decision against West Chester, the defending national champions and current No.1 team in the country, Wednesday in Hilton Head.

The Golden Rams (1-0) offense proved too much for The Rock (0-2), opening the game with 15 unanswered goals in the first half.

Slippery Rock freshman Amy Halls scored all four of the team's goals in the second half. She notched her first at the 24:54 mark and followed that with one at 23:34, another at 17:18 and closed the game with the final goal with two seconds remaining. All four goals were unassisted.

Rock goalie Ashley Winkelspecht finished the game with 25 saves.

Halls was impressive in her first two collegiate games, leading the team with five goals on the spring break trip.

The Rock will host Edinboro next Thursday, March 12, in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division opener. First draw is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Thompson Stadium.

A complete box score will be added when the team returns from S.C.
