Rock falls to #5 Lock Haven, 21-5

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.
– The No.5 ranked Lock Haven women's lacrosse team proved to be too much for Slippery Rock Saturday, pulling away to a 21-5 win in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

Lock Haven scored the first six goals of the game, took a 13-3 lead into the halftime intermission and never looked back.

The Rock was led by Sam Huebner and Samantha Eddy, who each finished with two goals. Amy Halls had one goal and one assist and Claire Conrad and Emma VanDenburg each had an assist.

Ashley Winkelspecht was credited with the loss in goal after allowing 14 goals and recording 11 saves in 33:31 in net. Sara Williams picked up six saves and allowed seven goals in 26:29 in goal.

Lock Haven was led by four goal efforts from Leigh Titus, Kayleigh Johnson and Amber Hoch. Kate Smyth scored three goals and Elyse Fisher and Allison Berger each scored twice.

Heather Sacko was credited with the win in goal after playing the first half, allowing three goals and recording two saves. Kira Nuttall allowed one goal in 26:55 in net and Nicole Necci allowed one goal and had one save in 3:05 in goal.

Lock Haven finished the game with a 43-11 advantage in total shots.

With the loss, Slippery Rock falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in PSAC-West play. Lock Haven improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.

The Rock will continue league play with it travels to Mercyhurst Wednesday, March 18, for a 4 p.m. first draw.
