Rock rings up 24-16 win over Gannon

Ryan Lehmeier ran for two TDs to lead The Rock (3-1, 1-0 PSAC-West) to its third straight win

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Redshirt sophomore running back Ryan Lehmeier ran for two touchdowns Saturday night to lead The Rock to a 24-16 win over visiting Gannon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
 
Lehmeier, who has now rushed for seven TDs this season, finished the game with 50 yards on 16 carries. He scored on runs of 2 and 3 yards.
 
Gannon's Jon Richardson rushed for 168 yards on 15 carries and scored on a 31-yard run early in the third period.
 
Redshirt sophomore Rock (3-1, 1-0 PSSAC-W) quarterback Brandon Frohnapple was 11 of 25 passing for 165 yards, no TDs, and did not throw an interception for the third successive week.
 
Senior H-Back Josh Prigorac caught four passes for 36 yards for SRU.
 
Gannon (2-2, 0-1 PSAC-W) quarterbacks Zach Boedicker and Bob Bartley combined to pass for 201 yards. Boedicker was 11 of 16 passing for 113 yards with one interception, while Bartley was 5 of 15 for 88 yards with one INT. Neither quarterback threw a TD pass.
 
The Rock held a slim 17-16 lead going into the fourth quarter of action and padded their final margin when redshirt sophomore defensive tack Robert Doiley returned a blocked punt 45 yards for a TD with just less than 14 minutes left in the game.

Senior DB Sam Morant had a game-high 12 tackles (9 solo, 3 assisted), 1.5 tackles for loss and one QB sack to lead The Rock defensive effort.
 
The Rock travels to Mercyhurst for a PSAC-West game next week. That will be the first-ever football meeting between The Rock and Lakers and will open a three-game road trip for SRU.

The Green and White's next home game will be an Oct. 18 homecoming date with Edinboro.
