SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Rock was handed a heartbreaking 1-0 loss Saturday as visiting Gannon scored the lone goal of the game in the 108th minute of action to record a 1-0 double-overtime win at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
The loss dropped The Rock's record to 2-2-1overall and and 0-1 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference-Western Divsion competition.
Gannon improved its recod to 3-2 overall, 2-1 in division play.
Golden Knights senior Chad Wynter scored the only goal of the contest.
Slippery Rock outshot Gannon by a 23-11 margin in the contest. Junior captain
Jeremy Deighton led The Green and White attack with seven shots.
Rock sophomore goalkeeper
Greg Blum recorded sixsav es in the game, including the rejection of a first-half penalty shot attempt.
The Rock will return to action Tuesday, when it will visit Mercyhurst for a 4 p.m. PSAC-WEst game.
The Green and White return home next Saturday, Sept. 20, to host Kutztown in a noon PSAC "crossover" game.
