Slippery Rock University Athletics

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team scored its most goals since 2015 in a 7-1 victory over non-conference foe Daemen University Wednesday at Royal Park.

Slippery Rock's record improves to 2-1-2 overall, while Daemen fell to 0-5-2 with the loss.

Kaden Reynolds and Boele Zwartele each scored a brace, Zwartele's first career multi-goal game and number three for Reynolds. Jimmy Irani and Ryan Hanes each scored their first goal of the season, while Jonathan Anthony found the back of the net for the first time in his career.

Seven different players grabbed assists for The Rock as Aashi Pandher and Massimo Cuda each dished out two assists, while Dylan Greggs, Gabin Lonjard and Xavier Jackson earned one assist each.

Troy Nine started in goal and played the first 76 minutes, making two saves and earning the win. Dylan Bliss subbed on and played the final 14 minutes, making one save.

Irani and Reynolds struck first for The Rock off assists from Pandher, Greggs and Cuda, giving SRU a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.

After a Daemen goal by Stefan Jankovic with assists from Keegan Herrmann and Jordan Nobe, Slippery Rock regained its two-goal advantage just four minutes before halftime, when Hanes buried a shot off assists from Pandher and Lonjard.

In the second half, Slippery Rock found the back of the net four times, behind Zwartele's brace, as well as goals from Reynolds and Anthony, while Cuda and Jackson added assists during the final 45 minutes.

Slippery Rock ended the game outshooting Daemen, 26-5, including 17-4 in shots on goal. The Rock also took five corner kicks to the Wildcats' one. Daemen led saves, 10-3, and each team committed nine fouls.

Slippery Rock stays on the road for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover matchup 2 p.m. Saturday at Shippensburg University.
