LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University football team picked up a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week awards Monday with JayJay Jordan earning the offensive award and Elijah Halley picking up defensive honors.
 
The Rock duo were recognized for their efforts in Saturday night's 59-35 road win at East Stroudsburg, which improved SRU to 2-0 on the year.
 
Jordan, a senior from Reading, Pennsylvania, ran for 228 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries to average 9.5 yards per carry. The 228 yards is the most by any player in the PSAC in a game this season and ranks as the fifth-most in a game by any player in Division II this year.
 
Halley, a fifth-year from Montclair, New Jersey, led the defense with five total tackles, including a career-high 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble.
 
The Rock have had two players recognized by the league after both of their games so far this year. Tight end Vincent Berardi and defensive end Brett Kwoka were both recognized after the season opener two weeks ago.
 
Slippery Rock will hit the road for the second straight week with a noon game Saturday at Millersville.
