In a series that dates back to just 2016, Slippery Rock is a perfect 4-0 against the Redhawks. Saturday's match will be the first between SRU and RWU since The Rock's four-set (21-25, 25-17, 25-15, 26-24) win at the 2023 Hall of Fame City Challenge. No active Rock athlete played in the 2023 match that was highlighted by double-doubles from Callie Chevalier (17 kills / 15 digs) and Erica Selfridge (12 kills / 20 digs).

GET THE 1ST, GET THE WIN
Slippery Rock has taken the first set in all of three of its victories this season, but have dropped the opener in its four losses.
 
THE ROCK ATTACK
• Slippery Rock's offensive attack through the first two weeks of the season has been led by the trio of Marley Annis, Ava Haynes and Emry Rumbaugh.
 
• Annis has arguably played the best volleyball of her collegiate career to start the 2026 season. One of only two Rock athletes to start all seven matches, Annis has recorded 78 kills on a .204 attack percentage. Her 3.39 kills per set rank sixth in the PSAC. She has already posted four double-digit kill outings this year.
 
• After compiling 86 kills in 22 matches as a sophomore in 2025, Haynes has already produced 49 kills in seven matches so far this season at 2.13 kills per set on a .151 attack percentage.
 
• Annis and Haynes have combined to average 26.0 kills per match in The Rock's three wins this year.
 
• Following a relatively quiet first five matches of the season, Rumbaugh had 22 kills against Davenport and Saginaw Valley State to close out the Hampton Inn and Suites Grand Rapids Downtown Classic. She went for a season-high 13 kills (.387) at Davenport.
 
• Behind The Rock's top trio of kill leaders are five other athletes with 11 or more kills in Victoria Nalbach (18), Gwen McCarthy (18), Alayna Esselink (13), Chloe Shirk (11) and Hayden Deming (11).
 
• Setting duties for SRU have fallen primarily to the duo of Paityn Krause and Abby Kolcum. A starter in all seven matches, Krause has 115 total assists (5.00 per set). Kolcum has come  off the bench to chip in 78 assists (4.11 per set). Behind Krause and Kolcum is freshman Emily Loeffler (21 assists / 2.62 per set / 4 MP).
 
SERVING UP SUCCESS
• 26 of The Rock's 36 aces this season have come off the hands of Krause, Ellie Friedrichs, Leah Schreckengost.
 
• Behind a dominant two-match start to her collegiate career, Friedrichs leads the way with 11 aces while Schreckengost is just two off the team lead with nine of her own. A model of consistency, Krause has served at least one ace in five of seven matches which has resulted in six aces.
 
• Annis (3), Kolcum (3), Haynes (2), Nalbach (1) and Bailey Espana (1) round out The Rock's ace leaders.
 
DEFENSIVELY SPEAKING
• As was the case for much of last season, Kara Pasquale once again finds herself among the nation's best when it comes to digs per set. Entering the SRU Invitational, the junior libero is averaging 4.83 digs per set which ranks third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and 34th in all of Division II.
 
• In addition to her impressive offensive production to open the year, Annis is second on the team in digs with 59 (2.57), helping the junior to two double-doubles on the year.
 
• Up front, Victoria Nalbach is the lone Rock athlete to have reached double-digit blocks so far this year with 11 (one solo / 10 assisted). However, a cluster of athletes are on the cusp of joining her in Rumbaugh (9), Haynes (8) and Annis (8).
