LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University led all institutions in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference with seven Team GPA Awards and SRU student-athletes recorded the highest overall cumulative GPA in the conference in 2025-26 according to an announcement from the league office Friday.
Slippery Rock student-athletes posted the highest average GPA among all 17 institutions in the PSAC for the second straight year with an average GPA of 3.528, which was a slight increase from 3.489 following the 2024-25 academic year.
The seven Slippery Rock teams that recorded the highest GPA in their respective sports were football (3.126), men's soccer (3.563), women's lacrosse (3.664), women's tennis (3.832), men's track & field (3.369), women's track & field (3.621) and volleyball (3.711). East Stroudsburg and Gannon each had four Team GPA Award winners to rank second behind SRU in the total number of Team GPA Awards.
The women's lacrosse team and men's track & field team have now won five consecutive PSAC Team GPA Awards after also leading the league in 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25.
Slippery Rock saw all 15 of its teams (indoor and outdoor track & field are combined for these purposes) record a GPA above 3.00 for the second straight academic year. The Rock were one of only five institutions in the PSAC to have all their athletic teams above a 3.00 in 2025-26, joining East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Kutztown and Mansfield.
The SRU women's tennis team posted the highest GPA of all Rock teams in 2025-26 and had the highest overall team GPA of any team in any sport in the PSAC with a 3.832 GPA. A total of 10 Slippery Rock teams recorded a GPA of 3.50 or above and three teams recorded a GPA of 3.70 or above. In addition to women's tennis (3.832), both women's soccer (3.758) and women's volleyball (3.711) had GPAs above 3.70.
13 of The Rock's 15 teams ranked in the top five in their respective sport and 12 of the 15 teams increased their GPA from a year ago.
SRU had a school record 323 student-athletes, 64 percent of its total number of athletes, recognized earlier this week as PSAC Scholar-Athletes for owning a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
Slippery Rock finished the year with 14 of its 15 teams owning a cumulative GPA above the league average for their respective sport.
