SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University will host a girls' flag football skill development camp and showcase July 16 for high school girls entering grades 8-12 in the fall.
The one-day camp will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium with registration set to begin at 5 p.m. Cost to attend is $75 per camper, which includes a t-shirt and snacks.
The camp will allow attendees to develop at their flag position with specific emphasis on technique and fundamentals while competing against other talent in the area. The camp will include speed and agility drill work, offense and defense skill stations and position specific drill-work for flag football, especially quarterback and wide receiver fundamentals.
The camp will be run by Slippery Rock University head women's flag football coach Lisa Horton and members of the Pittsburgh Passion Women's Flag Football Pro Team. Participants will be assembled into teams for a competitive play session to wrap up the camp.
Only cleats, mouthpiece and flags are required to participate.

FLAG FOOTBALL AT SRU: Slippery Rock recently announced it would add women's flag football as a varsity sport with competition scheduled to begin in 2027-28. Lisa Horton was named the inaugural head coach of the program and will begin her role July 1, 2026 with a full year to recruit and build the foundation for the program. Student-athletes interested in joining the inaugural team are encouraged to fill out a recruiting questionnaire HERE.
