Softball Camp Registration

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University softball program has announced plans to host two summer camps in the coming months.

SRU first hosts a Summer Prospect Camp July 21 followed by an Aug. 4 Elite Skills and Scrimmage Camp. Both camps are for high school girls currently in ninth grade and up, as well as college transfers.

The July 21 Summer Prospect Camp runs from 9 a.m.–3:45 p.m. depending on the sessions registered for between Morrow Field House and Kasnevich Field. Dedicated sessions for pitching ($75), hitting ($80), catching ($45), infield ($45) and outfield ($45) are being offered throughout the day.

The Elite Skills and Scrimmage Camp is set to be held from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at Kasnevich Field with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. The cost to attend is $135 per athlete.

SRU SOFTBALL PROSPECT CAMP

For:Â High school girls currently in ninth grade and up as well as college transfers
Description:Â Prospect camp is geared towards prospective student-athletes who are interested in Rock softball and want to improve their skills. The camp includes hitting, pitching, catching and infield/outfield drills.
Cost:Â $75 for the pitching clinic, $80 for the hitting clinic, and $45 each for the catching, infield and outfield clinics per day.

Pitching and hitting sessions will be located indoors at Morrow Field House. The indoor area is not turf, so participants are asked not to wear molded cleats or metals, but to instead wear turf shoes or regular sneakers.

Catching, infield and outdoor sessions will be held outdoors at Kasnevich Field. If the weather is not adequate for these sessions they will be moved indoors to Morrow Field House. Participants will receive an email no later than 24 hours before the camp if this change occurs.

Session Times
Pitching: 9 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Hitting: 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Catching: 1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
Infield: 2 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
Outfield: 3 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Check-in will begin 30 minutes prior to the first session registered for at Morrow Field House.

PITCHING
Pitchers will have the opportunity to showcase all current pitches and the chance to learn new ones. Attendees must bring their own catcher as one will not be provided.

HITTING
Hitters will have the opportunity to display athleticism by participating in hitting drills that the SRU softball team practices daily. Hitters are asked to bring their own helmet, bat, batting gloves, etc. for this session.

CATCHERS
Those taking part in the catching session will have the opportunity to showcase their throwing, blocking and framing skills as well as their quickness and mobility behind the plate. Please bring your own catching equipment.

INFIELD
Infielders will have the opportunity to demonstrate their athleticism at multiple infield positions while showcasing their smoothness, quickness, arm strength, range and glove skills.

OUTFIELD
Outfielders will have the opportunity to demonstrate their athleticism at multiple outfield positions while showcasing their quickness, range, arm strength and drop step skills.

Description:Â Attendees will receive hands-on instruction in advanced offensive and defensive techniques, participate in game-like situations and put their training to the test in live scrimmages. Our experienced coaches will provide personalized feedback to help players identify areas for improvement and maximize their potential. Additionally, timeouts will be called in the situational game for on-field coach instruction. This camp is ideal for serious softball players looking to gain exposure, experience a collegiate-level practice and take their game to the next level.
