Former Slippery Rock University softball great Stacey Herzog will begin her eighth season as a full-time assistant coach in 2026. Herzog previously served as a graduate assistant in 2018 and a volunteer assistant in 2017 on head coach Stacey Rice’s staff.

CAREER AT A GLANCE
• During her time at The Rock, Herzog has helped to develop 20 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division athletes including 2017 PSAC West Athlete of the Year Kailey Myers and 2025 PSAC West Pitcher of the Year Alexsa Hurd.
• Herzog has helped to lead The Rock to three winning seasons overall – two of which have come in the last three years – as well as three PSAC Tournament berths.
• Most recently, Herzog assisted Rice in guiding Slippery Rock to the best season in program history. Slippery Rock ended 2025 at 29-21 overall with a 21-7 PSAC West record. SRU Won the PSAC West regular season title for the first divisional championship in program history in addition to matching a single-season Rock record for overall wins while setting a program record for conference victories in a year.

CAREER PATH
• Herzog began her coaching career as a volunteer assistant for the Slippery Rock softball program in 2017.
• Following her first year with the program, Herzog became a one-year graduate assistant for Rice before officially becoming a full-time assistant coach in 2019.

PLAYING CAREER
• As a student-athlete, Herzog had a distinguished three-year playing career at The Rock.
• Herzog was a career.281 (59-for-210) hitter who had eight home runs and 50 RBI.
• Her .725 career slugging percentage ranks ninth in program history.
• She received a variety of accolades during her playing career including being named to the All-PSAC West Team in 2015, being tabbed the PSAC Champion Scholar in 2016 as well as registering CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in 2014-15.

PERSONAL
• A native of Smethport, Pennsylvania.
• Herzog earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Slippery Rock in 2016 and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2018.
• Additionally, Herzog earned her Doctorate in Health Science from California University (Pa.) in 2021.
