HARRISON CITY, Pa. – The 39th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division victory over Seton Hill University Thursday at Penn Trafford High School.
The win, SRU's third consecutive victory, improved The Rock's record to 7-1 overall and 2-0 inside the PSAC West. Seton Hill dropped to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in league games following the loss.
Thursday's win also marked the 400th career victory in the women's tennis coaching career for The Rock's
Matt Meredith. Already the winningest coach in PSAC history, Meredith is now just the 13th coach in NCAA Division II history to reach 400 career victories.
SRU earned its second straight 7-0 PSAC West win by again claiming wins in every available flight.
With Seton Hill only having four athletes available for the match, SRU captured the doubles point thanks to a 6-1 victory by
Tina Slovak and
Amaia Balaguer Brau over Kaylee Kanuka and Alycia Derr out of the second flight. Balaguer Brau and Slovak are now 11-3 this season.
The Rock's top doubles pairing of No. 31
Nicole Kempton and
Alissia Kivi closed out the doubles portion of the match with a 6-0 shutout of Alexandra Wolfe and Carissa Shephard for what was the 15th win of the year for the duo.
Slippery Rock then gained singles points via walkover decisions from the fifth and sixth flights followed by Kivi besting Kanuka 6-0, 6-0 to earn the match-clinching point for The Rock. Kivi has now won three straight bouts to improve her singles record to 15-3 in 2025-26.
SRU went on to add three more wins to finish the day as Balaguer Brau bested Shephard (6-0, 6-2),
Dari Sakhanova defeated Wolf (6-0, 6-0) and
Nadia Rodewald beat Derr (6-1, 6-0).
Rodewald's win served as her 10th of the season, she is currently on a five-match winning streak. At 13-5, only Kivi has more singles wins for SRU than Balaguer Brau. Meanwhile, Sakhanova's latest win pushed her record to 12-4.
Sakhanova and Slovak both moved up a spot on Slippery Rock's career wins ledgers following Thursday's decisions. Sakhanova is now tied with Lacey Cohen (2016-21) for seventh place on the program's all-time wins chart with 129 victories, while Slovak moved into a tie for 12th place with Janelle Krantz (2009-13) at 112 wins.
