2025-26 Men's Basketball Academic All-District Team

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Mack Staunch represented the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
 
In order to be eligible to earn CSC Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in eligibility both athletically as well as academically, own a cumulative GPA above 3.50 and have significant athletic credentials. Additionally, athletes must have competed in 90 percent of their institution's games or have started in at least 66 percent of its contests.
 
Staunch earned his first CSC Academic All-District honor after maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA as a political science major with a minor in economics in addition to being a valuable reserve forward for a Slippery Rock team that went 17-12 and qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament.
 
On the court, Staunch was one of just three Rock athletes to appear in all 29 games in 2025-26. Staunch set career-highs in games played, minutes played (246), field goal percentage (.656), offensive rebounds (31) and points scored (51).
 
The value that Staunch provided to The Rock went beyond measurable statistics as he was a constant spark plug off the bench with unrelenting energy and effort. Staunch appeared 71 games over his collegiate career, making four starts while totaling 137 rebounds and 124 points.
 
In the classroom, Staunch has been named to the Dean's List seven times over the course of his academic career at The Rock. He's already a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and will earn his fourth such accolade when the annual list is released following the 2025-26 academic year.
 
Tuesday announcement marks the second consecutive season SRU has had a CSC Academic All-District honoree: Luke Howes earned the award last year as well.
