LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Slippery Rock University women's tennis standout
Dari Sakhanova has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Â
Monday's announcement marks Sakhanova's second career PSAC West Athlete of the Week accolade. She is also the second SRU athlete this year to earn the PSAC West's top weekly honor:
Alissia Kivi has already picked up the award twice in 2025-26.
Â
Sakhanova earned her latest accolade after helping The Rock to a 2-1 record last week. SRU earned quality wins over Texas A&M Kingsville (4-3) and Saint Leo (5-2), while The Rock's lone setback came against No. 31 Angelo State University (5-2).
Â
Over the three matches, Sakhanova compiled a 2-1 record out of The Rock's fifth singles flight in addition to going a perfect 3-0 with partner
Nadia Rodewald in third flight doubles competition.
Â
Sakhanova has opened her senior season on a hot streak, going 9-4 in singles bouts and a near flawless 13-1 alongside Rodewald in doubles play.
Â
A one-time All-PSAC West selection and the 2023 PSAC West Freshman of the Year, Sakhanova has already racked up 124 career victories – the ninth highest total in program history - in what's been a stellar collegiate career at The Rock.
Â
Slippery Rock returns to competition with a non-conference match 1 p.m. Sunday against Fairmont State University at the SRU Tennis Courts.
