SLIPPERY ROCK - SETON HILL ROUND 1
Slippery Rock lost on the road Jan. 17 at Seton Hill, 88-62. The Rock were led by Kerwin Prince (17 points, eight rebounds, two steals), Brady Mayo (13 points, two steals) and Isaac James (10 points, seven rebounds).

SRU shot 40.7 percent (24-of-59) from the field overall, 20 percent (4-of-20) from 3-point range and 58.8 percent (10-of-17) at the foul line.

Seton Hill earned its win by hitting 48.5 percent (32-of-66) of its field goal attempts including a 10-for-26 effort from 3-point territory (.385). The Griffins also mad 14-of-16 foul shots (.875), held a +4 rebounding margin (39-35) and scored 17 points off 14 Rock turnovers.

Slippery Rock trailed Seton Hill by just one point early in the second half, but the remainder of the day belonged to Seton Hill which used a 16-0 run during the middle portion of the half to put the game out of reach en route to the eventual 26-point victory.

RECORDS
Slippery Rock welcomes the Griffins Saturday holding a 15-10 overall record and an 8-9 mark inside the PSAC West. Seton Hill comes to SRU at 13-12 overall and 7-10 in league games.

LAST TIME OUT
SRU and Seton Hill both lost road games with The Rock falling to No. 5 Gannon and SHU dropping a contest at IUP.

ROCK STILL CONTROLS OWN DESTINY
While there's no way to paint Wednesday's result against Gannon as a good thing, the fact remains that Slippery Rock left Erie no worse in the PSAC West standings as when it entered.

As such, Slippery Rock still controls its own destiny with the chance to earn a PSAC Tournament berth and an opening-round home game with three contests remaining in the regular season.

• The top six teams in both the Western Division and Eastern Division standings at the end of the regular season qualify for the PSAC Tournament. The first and second seeds in the standings earn first-round byes and a home game in the quarterfinal round while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds are guaranteed home games in the first round.

• Three of the six tournament bids out of the PSAC West are accounted for as Gannon (16-1), California (15-2) and IUP (14-3) are all locked in and will be the top three seeds in the division with only the order of seeding to be decided.

• Heading into Saturday's games, Slippery Rock sits in a tie for fourth place in the division's standings alongside Edinboro with matching 8-9 league marks. The Rock and Fighting Scots hold one-game advantages over Seton Hill (7-10) and Clarion (7-10), who are tied for sixth place.

• Pitt-Johnstown rounds out the league standings in eighth place at 5-12. A UPJ loss combined with a win from either Clarion or Seton Hill would eliminate UPJ from the tournament race.

• With the final five teams playing for the three spots so close in record, there are still a myriad of ways that teams can play itself into – and out of – the postseason. However, if Slippery Rock wins two of their remaining three games it will guarantee itself a tournament bid without worrying about tiebreakers or other results.

• Slippery Rock has qualified for the PSAC Tournament in eight of the last nine years. SRU has hosted opening-round tournament games in each of the last two years.

• In the Eastern Division, West Chester (13-5), East Stroudsburg (13-6), Millersville (13-6) and Shepherd (12-6) have all clinched tournament berths. Shippensburg (7-11) needs to win one of its remaining three games to claim the fifth berth. The remaining spot out of the PSAC East will be decided between Lock Haven (5-13), Bloomsburg (4-14) and Kutztown (3-15).

GANNON RECAP (Box Score)
Slippery Rock lost on the road to No. 5 Gannon, 117-73, Wednesday at the Highmark Events Center.

Slippery Rock was unable to ever find its collective footing Wednesday night as the nationally ranked Golden Knights jumped out to a 30-7 lead eight minutes into regulation before stretching its advantage to 31 points (69-38) heading into halftime. GU added 13 points to its halftime edge over the final 20 minutes for the eventual 44-point win.

Four of The Rock's five starters finished in double figures Wednesday, led by Brady Mayo's 14-point, two-assist showing. Included in Mayo's scoring was a perfect 6-for-6 night at the foul line.

Dame Givner added 13 points, while the duo of Kerwin Prince (11 points, 9 rebounds) and Isaac James (13 points, 8 rebounds) both nearly recorded double-doubles. RJ Sledge chipped in eight points, distributed four assists, grabbed three rebounds and made one steal over a team-high 33 minutes of playing time.

IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME
Since 2008-09, SRU is an outstanding 186-62 (.750) at Morrow Field House. SRU has now recorded a winning record at Morrow Field House for 14 of the last 15 seasons. Across the PSAC, SRU ranks fourth in both home winning percentage and in total home wins since 2008-09. The Rock are 10-4 at Morrow Field House this year.

DANGEROUS DUO
In their lone season playing together, Kerwin Prince and Isaac James have proven to be formidable forward duo for The Rock. Prince averages 11.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 62.3 percent from the field. James adds 10.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game to go with a .494 field goal percentage.

Just as impressive is the work on the offensive glass that Prince and James do. Slippery Rock is the only team in the PSAC with two athletes ranked among the league's top 12 offensive rebounders in Prince (4th / 3.2 orpg) and James (12th / 2.2 orpg).

Only one other Rock pairing have combined to average more offensive rebounds per game than Prince and James over the last six seasons: Tyler Frederick and Jonathan McFall averaged 6.5 orpg in 2021-22.

Top Offensive Rebounds Duo at SRU (Since 2019-20)
1. Tyler Frederick / Jonathan McFall (2021-22): 6.5
2. Kerwin Prince / Isaac James (2025-26): 5.4
3. Will Robinson Jr. / Micah Till (2019-20): 4.6
4. Lashon Lindsey / Maceo Austin (2023-24): 4.4
5. Khalid Gates / Jonathan McFall (2022-23): 4.1
6. Maceo Austin / O'Meech Wilson (2024-25): 3.9

8 STRAIGHT AT THE LINE FOR MAYO
As part of his team-best 14 points against Gannon, Brady Mayo went a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line. Mayo has now made his last eight free throw attempts to up his percentage at the line to 85.5 percent - the fourth best percentage in the PSAC. If the season ended today, Mayo would own the fourth highest single-season free throw percentage in program history (minimum 75 attempts).

Mayo has had a strong finish to his freshman season with six double-digit scoring performances in his last eight games. On the year, he averages 10.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Mayo's 256 points rank 11th on The Rock's single-season freshmen scoring list, one point behind Kevin Jones (1987-88) for 10th place.

Top Single-Season FT% at SRU (Min. 75 Attempts)

BATTLE OF TOP FRESHMEN
Saturday's game will feature a mixture of the top freshmen talent inside the PSAC West this season, particularly two of the top all-around rookies in The Rock's Dame Givner (15.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.5 spg, 44.6 FG%, 37.0 3FG%, 79.2 FT% ) and Seton Hill's Rashaad Williams (13.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.7 apg, 2.0 spg, 41.6 FG%, 37.1 3FG%, 74.1 FT%).

GIVNER 6th in D2 ROOKIE SCORING
Dame Givner opens the Seton Hill game still ranked among the best freshmen scorers in all of Division II.

Givner, who has scored at least 20 points on six occasions this year, enters Saturday at 397 points on the year overall on an average of 15.9 points per game.

Givner is sixth in all of Division II in total points scored by a freshman while slotting 11th in rookie points per game.

4.  Jax Abernathy (Trevecca Nazarene): 417
5. Rashawn Inglemon (Anderson): 416
6. Dame Givner (SRU): 397

2. Will Fowler* (Converse, 8-14): 19.9
3. Brogan Madson (Sioux Falls, 14-13): 19.3
4. Ayden Goll* (Wheeling, 16-8): 17.9

10. Danny Delgardo III (Fort Valley, 12-10): 16.0
11. Dame Givner (SRU, 15-10): 15.9

Givner's 397 points already represent the third-highest point total scored by a freshman in Slippery Rock history. With a minimum of three games to play in 2025-26, Givner is currently on pace to score 445 points which would position him second on The Rock's rookie scoring list behind only program legend Myron Brown (516 / 1987-88).

SLEDGE RUNNING THE SHOW
A key part of The Rock's three true freshmen guard starting lineup over the last 14 games, RJ Sledge did has recorded at least three more assists than turnovers in seven games this season, while finishing 16 contests with more assists than turnovers overall. Those totals have resulted in a 1.4 assist-turnover ratio for Sledge: the second highest among all PSAC freshmen and the No. 18 ratio overall in the league.

Sledge, who had eight points, four assists, and one steal against Gannon, has appeared in all 25 games for SRU this season with per game averages of 7.7 points, 3.0 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals.

CALL IN THE RESERVES
The Rock's top bench performers of late have been Sheick Samoura (7.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.0 bpg), Braylon Littlejohn (5.0 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.3 apg), Mack Staunch (1.6 ppg, 1.6 rpg) and Alex Griggs (7 points at Gannon).

JUST WIN
Already assured of finishing the year with a winning record for the 16th time in the last 17 completed seasons as a program - including each of the last seven years under head coach Ian Grady - Slippery Rock needs one more win this year to give The Rock 16 victories, which would represent the fourth-highest win total for SRU under Grady.

If Slippery Rock were to win its final three games of the regular season it would enter the PSAC Tournament having matched the program's highest win total over the last seven completed seasons.

GET A LEAD, KEEP A LEAD
Slippery Rock is a perfect 15-0 in 2025-26 when holding a lead or being tied at halftime, but 0-10 when trailing after 20 minutes.

KEEP IT UNDER 80
Slippery Rock is a perfect 14-0 when holding opponents to under 80 points, but just 1-10 in high-scoring (80+) contests. Seton Hill has been held under 80 points in 11 games this season overall, including in each of its last four contests.

While SRU holds a 7-8 record and is relatively comfortable when being kept under 80 points, Seton Hill is just 2-9 in such contests.

EFFORT ON THE GLASS SHOWS UP IN THE WIN COLUMN
Slippery Rock is 14-2 when holding a positive rebounding margin. SRU is ranked fourth in the PSAC in both total rebounding (38.9) and rebounding margin (+4.0).

While Seton Hill is below The Rock in nearly every rebounding statistic including total rebounding (38.9-37.2), offensive rebounding (13.1-11.6), defensive rebounding (25.8-25.5) and rebounding margin (+4.0-+1.5), it was the Griffins that held a +4 edge on the glass over The Rock in the first meeting of the year.

DEFENSE CREATES OFFENSE
Through 25 games, SRU is scoring 14.8 points off turnovers per game, which if maintained through the end of the season would represent the fifth highest such average inside the program over the last 12 years. Slippery Rock scored just seven points off turnovers at Seton Hill earlier in the season - it's third lowest such total of the year.

Slippery Rock has averaged 17.1 points off turnovers per game in its 15 wins this year, up from 11.3 in its 10 losses.

IT'S A MAKE OR MISS GAME (OR IS IT?)
Slippery Rock is 11-5 this season when shooting above 45 percent from the field and just 4-5 when shooting below 45 percent. In 15 wins SRU has shot 48.9 percent compared to 44.4 in eight losses.

With that said, SRU has shot at least 48.3 percent in each of its last three games (.554 vs. Clarion, .483 at IUP and .491 at Gannon) and two of the contests have resulted in losses.

While Herster is nearing SRU 1,000-point milestone, he's already scored 1,366 points in the totality of his college career between his time at SRU and Gannon.

His 995 points in a Rock uniform also represent the sixth highest point total by a transfer to come to SRU in program history. Herster also ranks seventh in program history in career 3-pointers with 116 - seven away from passing Jared Armstrong (2018-20) for sixth place.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
• Much like The Rock, Seton Hill enter Saturday's game in desperate need of a late-season win to help solidify its footing inside the PSAC West standings.

• Seton Hill has lost seven straight games since defeating Slippery Rock, putting its PSAC Tournament hopes in doubt entering the final stages of the regular season.

• The Griffins are led by the forward duo of Kedrick Curtis and Edir Ortiz, who combined for 30 points, 21 rebounds, four steals and two blocks in SHU's win over SRU earlier in the season.

• Curtis, who recently scored his 1,000th career point, provides the Griffins with 16.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 52.6 percent from the field. Curtis ranks second in the PSAC in double-doubles this season (10). He has three double-doubles in five career games against The Rock.

• While he has missed Seton Hill's last two games, Ortiz is good for 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and a league-high 1.7 blocks per game. A 51.8 percent shooter overall, Ortiz has also converted 39-of-87 3-point attempts.

• Rashaad Williams (13.8), Dimitrios Sklavenitis (10.7), Camden Brewer (10.5) and Gabe Gillespie (10.1) all average at least 10.0 ppg as well, with Williams also adding 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game.

• Seton Hill ranks seventh in the PSAC in scoring (81.8) and 11th in opponents points per game (78.3). The Griffins hold the PSAC's fourth-highest 3-point percentage at .357, resulting in 8.0 made 3-pointers a game.

UP NEXT
Slippery Rock plays its final home game of the regular season 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 when it hosts Edinboro at Morrow Field House as part of its Black History Month Game and Employee Appreciation Game. SRU lost in overtime at Edinboro, 82-75, earlier in the season.
