The Slippery Rock men’s soccer team dropped its non-conference finale in a PSAC crossover against Shepherd, 3-1, Saturday at James Egli Field.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team dropped its non-conference finale in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover against Shepherd University, 3-1, Saturday at James Egli Field.

With the result, Slippery Rock drops to 2-4-4 overall and stays at 0-2-1 in the PSAC West, while Shepherd's overall record improves to 5-2-3 and stays at 1-2-2 in the PSAC East.

Tom Roantree scored his first goal in an SRU uniform as The Rock's lone marker, as Aashi Pandher grabbed his team-leading fifth assist of the season and Fynn Uebele earned his first career helper.

Roantree (3), Pandher (4), Kaden Reynolds (4) and Zsombor Retfalvi (2) took multiple shots for SRU, while Gabin Lonjard, Ryan Hanes, Boele Zwartele and Caleb Alldredge rounded out Slippery Rock's shot takers with one apiece.

Troy Nine started his 10th game of the season and made one save over 90 minutes of play.

Lonjard joined Nine as the only Rock players to play the full 90 minutes.

Shepherd started the scoring early as the Rams took a 1-0 lead via a goal from Moulay El Yagouti off an assist from Drey Plummer in the eighth minute.

It took Slippery Rock just eight minutes to equalize the game as Uebele charged up the left side of the field before laying the ball off to Pandher, who sent in a cross into the box that found the right foot of Roantree to the back of the net.

After the halftime break, the Rams scored twice in the 71st and 72nd minute with goals from Josh Petty and Harry Booth, as Booth, Antonio Conte and Emilo Flores earned on assist each.

Slippery Rock was unable to find an answer as Shepherd claimed the 3-1 victory.

The Rock ended the game with advantages in shots (18-8), shots on goal (7-4) and corner kicks (5-2).

SRU honored its Soccer Ring of Honor Class of 2026 at halftime of the contest.

Slippery Rock restarts conference play in as it closes its three-game homestand with a PSAC West matchup against No. 20 Gannon University 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at James Egli Field.
