PITT-JOHNSTOWN RECAP (Box Score)
Slippery Rock went on the road for the second time in as many games and earned a PSAC West victory as SRU defeated Pitt-Johnstown, 82-68. After losing 10 straight games in Johnstown, Pennsylvania between 2015 and 2023, Slippery Rock has now won each of its last three trips to the Sports Center.

Slippery Rock shot 56.5 percent (35-of-62) from the field overall and 38.9 percent (7-of-18) from 3-point range. The Rock took care of possession with just 12 turnovers, its third lowest total of the year. Slippery Rock also recorded a +7 (34-27) rebounding margin while scoring 19 points off 14 Pitt-Johnstown turnovers.

While the Mountain Cats kept the game close through much of the day, Slippery Rock ultimately held the advantage for just under 38 minutes (37:40) with its lead growing to as many as 16 points in the second half.

A HISTORIC START CONTINUED
The Rock's win over Pitt-Johnstown also held historical significance inside the program as this year's team is now tied for the third-best record through 16 games in SRU history.

A victory over IUP would push The Rock's record to 14-3 and tie this year's team for the third-best record through 17 games in program history. The top two 17-game starts to a season came well before the modern era in 1923-24 (16-1) and 1945-46 (15-2). The best 17-game start to a season in The Rock's Division II era is 14-3 in 2017-18 and 1989-90.

SLEDGE NAMED DIVISION'S TOP DEFENDER
RJ Sledge was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week after helping The Rock to two road wins last week against Clarion and Pitt-Johnstown. Sledge compiled five total steals with three in SRU's 78-71 win against Clarion and two more as part of an 82-68 victory at Pitt-Johnstown.

Sledge has appeared in 16 games as a rookie while making five starts. He has begun his collegiate career by averaging 7.6 points, 2.9 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 41.4 percent overall, 37.3 percent from 3-point range and 78.9 percent at the foul line. He ranks 18th in the PSAC in steals per game.

Since being inserted into SRU's starting lineup five games ago, Sledge has racked up 11 steals (2.2 spg) and 22 assists (4.4 apg).

Sledge is the third member of the SRU roster to have earned a weekly honor from the PSAC this season: Elijah Hill was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week on Dec. 1 and Dame Givner garnered PSAC West Athlete of the Week accolades Dec. 22.

GIVNER AMONG D2'S BEST ROOKIE SCORERS
Dame Givner registered another dynamic performance against Pitt-Johnstown as the rookie phenom went for 28 points, three assists and two steals. Givner shot 11-for-18 from the field overall and a near automatic 6-of-9 from 3-point range.

Givner has now scored at least 20 points on six occasions this year, increasing his season point total to 279 and his points per game mark to 17.4

Givner ranks third in all of Division II in total points scored by a freshman while slotting eighth in rookie points per game. Far from a one-dimensional athlete, Givner also provides SRU with 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Also of note about the freshman scoring list, of the top-10 leaders in points per game Givner is one of just four athletes to be on a team with a record of at least five games above .500.

1. Lazerek Houston (Central Missouri): 350
2. Brogan Madson (Sioux Falls): 283
3. Dame Givner (SRU): 279

5. Rowan Carmichael (Edinboro): 254

10. KeShaun Thomas (Drury, 7-8): 15.9
*Redshirt Freshman

Inside the program, Givner's 279 points already represent the eighth-highest point total scored by a freshman in Slippery Rock history.

Givner is very likely to continue his ascent up The Rock's rookie scoring ledger against IUP as he needs just six points to pass both Dennis Greene (1991-92) and Matt Hale (2005-06) to move into sixth place.

ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR PRINCE
Kerwin Prince entered The Rock's starting lineup for the first time this season in SRU's win over Pitt-Johnstown and responded by turning in a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double, his second in the last four games.

Prince has begun to establish himself as one of the top rebounders in the PSAC. In 10 contests, he is averaging 8.0 rebounds per game overall and 3.3 offensive rebounds per game. Prince also scores 9.9 points per game while shooting 59.1 percent.

While not appearing among the PSAC statistical leaders yet due to percentage of games played, Prince's averages will rank him sixth in the conference in overall rebounding and second in offensive rebounds per game once he meets the games played qualification.

GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER
The Rock enters the IUP game as healthy as they've been since their 114-76 season-opening win over West Virginia Wesleyan. The Pitt-Johnstown game marked the return of three key pieces of Slippery Rock's rotation in veterans Maceo Austin and Ike Herster as well as promising redshirt freshman Braylon Littlejohn.

One of the top all-around athletes in the PSAC, Austin has averaged 15.5 points, 3.5 steals, 3.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 77.8 percent from the field in his two games played. A proven collegiate scorer with over 1,300 career points. Herster averages 12.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in his 13 appearances this year. Littlejohn has produced 5.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game in his first three contests.

HERSTER CLOSING IN ON SCORING MILESTONE
Ike Herster enters the week needing to score 18 points to become the 26th athlete in program history to score 1,000 points in a Rock uniform.

Herster, who is averaging 12.2 points per game this season, has totaled 18 or more points in a single-game 21 times during his SRU tenure, two of which came versus Indiana.

While Herster is nearing SRU 1,000-point milestone, he's already scored 1,366 points in the totality of his college career between his time at SRU and Gannon. His 982 points in a Rock uniform also represent the sixth highest point total by a transfer to come to SRU in program history. Herster also ranks ninth in program history in career 3-pointers.

EFFICIENT SCORING FROM JAMES
Isaac James has converted 10 of his last 15 field goal attempts over the past two games, going 4-for-7 at Clarion and 6-for-8 at Pitt-Johnstown.

A 10.4 points per game scorer on the year, James has been one of SRU's most accurate shooters all season at an even 50 percent (71-of-142) through the duration of his 16 games played. He has shot over 50 percent in a game on 10 occasions this year. James is also one of The Rock's top rebounders (6.5 rpg) and No. 3 assist man at 2.2 per game.

STRONG STRETCH FOR SAMOURA
Sheick Samoura is in the midst of one of best string of scoring performances in his collegiate career. Over his last three games played, Samoura has averaged 17.7 points per game after going for 19 points versus Bloomsburg, 18 against East Stroudsburg and 16 at Clarion.

The hot streak represents three of the top six single-game scoring totals in Samoura's three-year Rock career.

In addition to providing SRU with much-needed offense, Samoura has also blocked four shots over the run to move into a tie for 13th place in program history for career rejections alongside Jamal Gatali (2014-16) at 62.

ROUNDING OUT THE ROTATION
• Redshirt freshman Elijah Hill and true freshman Brady Mayo have been vital to The Rock's success over the first two months of the year.

• A starter in 11 of 16 games played, Mayo averages 9.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He ranks third in the PSAC in free throw shooting percentage (.860 / 43-50) while also being tied with Herster for third on The Rock in made 3-pointers (16).

• In his first year of official competition, Elijah Hill has provided The Rock with 10.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 65.6 percent.

• The Rock also rotates in the interior platoon redshirt junior forward duo of Mack Staunch (16 GP, 2.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg) and Enire Bowens (12 GP, 1.3 rpg). 18 of Staunch's 28 rebounds in 2025-26 have come on the offensive glass – the fifth highest total for SRU.

• Redshirt junior guard Alex Griggs has totaled two rebounds, two steals and one block over 25 minutes played during his three appearances in 2025-26.

NO EASY 3'S
Opponents have had a rough time converting its 3-pointers against The Rock this season. Entering Wednesday, SRU ranks seventh in the nation, and first in the PSAC, in 3-point percentage defense at .272.

Only five opponents have shot over 30 percent from 3-point territory against SRU this season: Pitt-Johnstown (.400 / 8-20), Clarion (.435 / 10-23), Lock Haven (.333 / 6-18), Fairmont State (.318 / 7-22) and Glenville State (.314 / 11-35). While UPJ shot 40 percent from long range Saturday against SRU, the Mountain Cats missed 12 of their first 16 3-pointers before making four straight late in the second half.

The Rock's perimeter defense will be put to the test against an IUP team that leads the PSAC in 3-pointers made per game (10.4) while ranking second in 3-point percentage (.382) and third in 3-point attempts (27.3).

SHOOTING STARS
Slippery Rock recorded two of its three highest single-game field goal percentages of the year last week against Pitt-Johnstown (.563) and Clarion (.517). Accompanying its strong overall field goal percentage have been solid showings from 3-point range where SRU has converted 21-of-57 attempts (.368) over the last three games.

On the year, The Rock ranks seventh in the PSAC in field goal percentage (.481) and fourth in 3-point percentage (.352).

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF MISTAKES
Through 16 games, SRU is scoring 16.7 points off turnovers per game, which if maintained through the end of the season would represent SRU's highest such average since 2018-19 (17.8).

WHO SAYS THERE'S NO SECOND CHANCES IN LIFE?
Slippery Rock has logged double-digit second chance point totals in 14 of 16 games this season. SRU is currently averaging 14.3 second chance points per game this season, well up from its 2024-25 average of 11.7.

STAYING PERFECT IN THE WEST
A victory over IUP would give The Rock a 3-0 start to their PSAC West schedule for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

MIX, MATCH, WIN
Slippery Rock has used eight different starting lineup combinations this year. Of the eight groupings, only one of the sets of starters has a losing record. A year ago, The Rock featured 16 different starting lineups.

WIN THE GLASS, WIN THE GAME
Slippery Rock is 12-1 in 2025-26 when holding a positive rebounding margin. SRU opens the week ranked third in the PSAC in both rebounding (40.3) and rebounding margin (+6.8) and fourth in offensive rebounding (14.1).

GET A LEAD, KEEP A LEAD
Slippery Rock is a perfect 13-0 in 2025-26 when holding a lead or being tied at halftime.

MORROW MAGIC

Since 2008-09, Slippery Rock is an outstanding 184-59 (.757) at Morrow Field House. SRU has now recorded a winning record at Morrow Field House for 14 of the last 15 seasons. Across the PSAC, SRU ranks fourth in home winning percentage and third in total home wins since 2008-09. The Rock are 8-1 at home this season.

SINGLE-GAME FRESHMEN SCORING AT SRU
SRU's talented freshmen class have been scoring at a rate that's been virtually unheard of for rookies at The Rock over the last quarter century.

This year's roster has accounted for eight of the 17 20-point games scored by a freshman at The Rock since the 2001-02 season (the furthest back game-by-game statistics are available)

Dame Givner has reached the 20-point threshold six times, with Elijah Hill and RJ Sledge notching one each. The most points scored by a freshman at The Rock since 2001-02 was Givner's 39 at Lock Haven.

The 39-point showing versus Lock Haven is the highest single-game total by a freshman in Division II this season, the sixth best by a rookie in the entire NCAA.

SCOUTING IUP
• A perennial contender in the PSAC and Atlantic Region, Indiana has fully bounced back from last year's 14-16 record which represented the program's first losing record since 2007-08.

• The Crimson Hawks come to Morrow Field House having won 10 of its first 12 games with an average margin of victory of 19.2 points. IUP's two losses came against Ashland and West Chester by just seven total points.

• It's no coincidence that IUP's return to dominance has coincided with the return of Dallis Dillard. After being limited to 10 games in 2023-24 and missing all last season due to injury, Dillard appears to be fully healthy. Over 12 games, Dillard has averaged 20.0 points, 5.8 re-bounds, 5.1 assists and 3.3 steals per game. He leads the PSAC in steals while ranking second in both scoring and assists.

• The trio of Dillard, Moore and Merraro combine to shoot 40.3 percent (83-206) from 3-point range.

• IUP leads the PSAC in points allowed per game (71.4) while holding the fourth-best scoring offense in the conference at 86.8 points per game. The Crimson Hawks make a PSAC-best 10.4 3-pointers per game on the league's second-highest accuracy (.382).
