SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University Athletic Communication Office was recognized with 28 national awards, including multiple "Best in Division II" distinctions, when the College Sports Communicators announced the organization's Creative and Digital Design Contest results Wednesday in Orlando at the annual CSC Unite Convention.
 
The 28 awards earned by the SRU Athletic Communication Office were for digital design work, including photography, social media graphics and social media campaigns. This year's contest featured a record number of entries with more than 2,100 total entries from more than 250 institutions and conferences.
 
Director of athletic communication Jon Holtz and creative intern Erica Selfridge were responsible for the photography and design work, with input from assistant director Tyler McIntosh, graduate assistant Nick Schmieg and student intern Ryan Mosher.
 
Holtz and Selfridge were both recognized with "Best in Division II" honors for graphic design work with Holtz being recognized for game day graphics and Selfridge being honored for the designs she created for the annual SRU Giving Day campaign.
 
SRU also had four photos taken by Holtz and Selfridge that were recognized among the best in the nation and had numerous game day and non-game day graphics honored for being among the best in the nation in 2024-25.
 
Since transforming the former Sports Information Office to the Athletic Communication Office in 2014, Holtz, McIntosh and the athletic communication staff have been recognized with 165 national and regional awards for excellence in the field. This year's CSC awards bring the office's total to 113 Creative and Digital Design and Writing Contest awards, including 34 "Best in the Nation" distinctions.
