PUEBLO, Colo. – Slippery Rock University distance runner Anna Igims closed her exceptional career with a first team All-America finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday night at the NCAA Division II National Championships at Colorado State University Pueblo.

Igims took seventh in the finals of the steeplechase on a blazing hot night in southern Colorado where the temperature at race time was 86 degrees. She ran a smart race and closed strong to finish in 10:41.51 to earn her second consecutive podium finish in the steeplechase at the outdoor national meet.

Friday's performance put a cap on an incredible senior year for Igims, who went undefeated in PSAC competition with seven conference titles across three different seasons. She won the PSAC and Atlantic Region cross country titles before earning All-America honors at the cross country national meet in the fall. She followed that up by winning three PSAC indoor track titles and closed out her senior season by winning three more PSAC titles at the outdoor meet. She was named the PSAC and Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year after both the cross country and indoor seasons and will be a strong candidate for both awards again this spring.

Igims went to the National Championships in all three seasons this year and broke Slippery Rock program records in the mile, steeplechase and 5,000-meter run. She leaves the program as a three-time All-American and a 14-time PSAC champion.

Igims was the lone SRU female competing on the first two days of the national meet. Teammates Sarah Corrie (shot put) and Isabella Bartoletti (javelin) will join the action Saturday on the final day of competition.

The Rock men picked up a pair of All-America honors Thursday with Kanye Thompson (100m) and Drew Layton (pole vault). Logan Anderson took 13th in the decathlon that finished Friday evening and Seaton Wozniak will throw the shot put Saturday.
