No. 13 Rock rolls to 19-6 win at Edinboro

No. 13 Slippery Rock rolled to a 19-6 win on the road at Edinboro Tuesday for a seventh straight win that improves The Rock to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in PSAC West games.

EDINBORO, Pa. – The 13th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-6 win on the road at Edinboro Tuesday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game from Sox Harrison Stadium.
 
The Rock improve to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in the PSAC West to remain in first place in the division and pick up their seventh straight win. The 12-1 start marks the best record in program history through 13 games and the seven-game winning streak ties for the second longest winning streak in program history. Edinboro dips to 2-11 overall and 0-7 in PSAC West games while falling to 0-22 all-time against SRU.
 
Slippery Rock jumped out to an 13-1 halftime lead and was never threatened in the second half. The Rock finished the game with advantages of 47-12 in total shots, 17-12 in draw controls, 29-14 in ground balls and 14-7 in caused turnovers.
 
SRU got goals from 13 different players, including hat tricks from Erin Melcher and Reagan Richeson. Grace Rotter finished with a team-high five points on two goals and three assists. Laurelle Surette finished with two goals and one assist and Ella Koslowski and Abby Fink each scored one goal and handed out one assist to give SRU six players with multiple points.
 
Cadyn Eismann, Isabella Buono, Maddie Blazey, Lauren Petty, Ava Dossier, Shannon Von Kaenel and Hailey Ohlsen all scored one goal to round out the scorers.
 
Rotter and Richeson also caused three turnovers each and Von Kaenel finished with a game-high 10 draw controls.
 
Lily Ventresca improved to 11-0 in goal after playing the opening half and allowing one goal while recording two saves. Ava Drath played the second half and made two saves while allowing five goals.  
 
Edinboro was led by Jacqui Detelich with two goals and two assists and Angelina Anderson with two goals. Addy Ours made 10 saves in goal.
 
Slippery Rock will now shift its focus to another road game this week with a 7 p.m. start Friday at Indiana University (Pa.).
