THE ROCK PITCHING STAFF
• While SRU's gaudy pitching numbers took a slight hit in last week's series loss to IUP. However, The Rock still enters the week allowing a solid 4.3 runs per game while possessing a 4.09 ERA and a .246 opponent batting average.

• SRU opens the week ranked sixth in the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.09), seventh in walks allowed per nine innings (2.95), 10th in WHIP (1.29), 17th in ERA, 28th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.69) and 32nd in strikeouts per nine innings (9.1).

• The Rock's starting rotation has remained largely consistent with Nate Malak, Joe Purcell, Gage Gillott, Ethan Edkins and Hunter Loomis combining to start 22 of SRU's 23 games in 2025.

• Gillott headlines SRU's pitchers when in the rotation. Over four starts, he's produced a 2-2 record with a 1.96 ERA, 20 strikeouts and a .160 opponent batting average over 23 innings pitched.

• Malak brings a perfect 3-0 record into the Gannon series. In six starts this season, the junior has worked 29.2 innings including one complete game while tallying a 3.94 ERA with a .237 opponent batting average to go with a team-high 37 strikeouts and 10 walks. He ranks sixth out of all pitchers in the PSAC in total strikeouts.

• Purcell has pocketed wins in each of his last three starts, improving his record to 3-2 overall in 28.1 innings pitched. Like Malak and Gillott, Purcell has issued a mere 10 walks in addition to posting 23 strikeouts.

• Having logged starts in each of The Rock's first two PSAC West series, Loomis enters the week at 2-1 overall with a 4.50 ERA, a .246 opponent batting average and 15 strikeouts through his first 16 innings pitched this year.

• Only Malak and Purcell have been on the mound for more innings this season than Edkins, who's thrown 24.1 innings that has resulted in a 2-2 record with 22 strikeouts and just five walks. Among qualified pitchers, only Derrick Shields of IUP has issued fewer free passes in the PSAC this season with two.
