LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University baseball standout
Nate Malak was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Malak earned his second career PSAC West Pitcher of the Week honor following his performance in game one of last week's series sweep of Pitt-Johnstown.

The Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania native was dominant against the Mountain Cats as he threw his first-career complete game shutout as part of a 1-0 victory.

The junior hurler matched a personal-best with 9 strikeouts while scattering four hits and just one walk over seven innings in the win. Malak allowed just one hit over the final four innings on the way to his third victory of 2025.

Over five starts this season, Malak has gone a perfect 3-0 with a 3.24 ERA, 33 strikeouts and a mere eight walks allowed all the while holding opposing batters to a .194 batting average over 25 innings pitched. Among qualified pitchers across the PSAC, Malak ranks third in strikeouts, fourth in opponent batting average and fourth in hits allowed (18).

Winners of five straight games, and eight of its last nine contests overall, Slippery Rock returns to competition this week with a four-game series against Indiana University (Pa.).

The Rock will host the Crimson Hawks for a doubleheader Friday before heading to IUP for two games Saturday. First pitch of game one on both days is set for 1 p.m.
