D2Baseball All-America Team
Â
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University relief pitcher
Mark Wilbur was named a second team All-American by D2Baseball, the organization announced Monday.
Â
The honor is the first such of Wilbur's career and the second such by a Slippery Rock baseball student-athlete this season: teammate
Gage Gillott received honorable mention All-America accolades by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association earlier in the offseason. Â
Â
Wilbur, a senior from Stow, Ohio, enjoyed a career-year in 2025 after pitching in 18 games – 17 of which came out of SRU's bullpen. Over 42 innings, Wilbur compiled a 2-2 record with six saves a 1.93 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. He limited opponents to a .192 batting average while collecting 52 strikeouts and surrendering just 10 walks.
Â
Far from a typical one-inning closer, Wilbur pitched multiple innings on 12 occasions in addition to surrendering no more than one run in 15 of his 17 relief appearances overall.
Â
All told, Wilbur set career-bests in ERA, wins, appearances, saves, innings pitched, runs allowed, strikeouts and opponent batting average.
Â
Off the field, Wilbur was recently named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team with a 3.69 GPA as an interdisciplinary programs major.
Â
For his career, Wilbur ranks fourth in program history for saves in a career (9) and 20th in total appearances (38).
Â
Wilbur was one of three athletes from the PSAC named to the D2Baseball All-America Team along with Ian Korn (Seton Hill) and Dennis Pierce (East Stroudsburg).
Â
Slippery Rock completed its 2025 season with a 31-19 overall record. The Rock qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament for a third consecutive year after going 16-12 in the PSAC West. The 31 wins secured the 20th 30-win campaign under head coach
Jeff Messer and represented the second highest victory total by the program over the last 16 years.
