LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Slippery Rock University men's basketball redshirt freshman Elijah Hill was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
 
Hill earned the honor after helping to lead Slippery Rock to another perfect record last week with convincing double-digit non-conference victories over Glenville State University (92-81) and D'Youville University (85-68).
 
In two games, Hill totaled eight defensive rebounds, three steals and one block while also averaging 11.5 points per game on 66.7 percent shooting from the field offensively.
 
Hill had one block and one steal in SRU's win over Glenville State before tallying two steals as part of a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double at D'Youville.
 
In his first official season of collegiate competition, Hill has started all six games while posting per game averages of 10.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in addition to shooting 68.6 percent (24-of-35) from the field overall and 75 percent (6-of-8) from 3-point range.
 
Slippery Rock has opened the 2025-26 season with a near perfect 5-1 record. The Rock returns home to host Lincoln University for a non-conference game 6 p.m. Thursday at Morrow Field House. SRU is a perfect 4-0 at home this year.
