IUP defeats Rock in home finale

The Slippery Rock volleyball team lost in three sets (25-21, 25-21, 25-22) to Indiana (Pa.) Saturday at Morrow Field House.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost in three sets (25-21, 25-21, 25-22) to Indiana University (Pa.) Saturday at Morrow Field House.
 
The loss moves The Rock's record to 9-16 overall and 2-10 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division. IUP leaves Slippery Rock holding a 17-9 overall record and a 9-5 mark inside the PSAC West.
 
Slippery Rock was led in the setback by Lauren VonderHaar, who registered nine kills on an impressive .529 attack percentage in addition to collecting five total blocks (three solo / two assisted). Ava Haynes also had two blocks all the while compiling five kills.
 
The trio of Callie Chevalier, Victoria Nalbach and Emry Rumbaugh rounded out SRU's attack leaders at four kills each with Chevalier also serving an ace.
 
Paityn Krause guided the offense with 14 assists to go with two aces and 10 kills in what was her ninth double-double performance of the year. Fellow setter Jaeden Yost had seven assists and one ace. Libero Kara Pasquale was the second Rock athlete with double-digit dig production at a team-best 14.
 
IUP was paced by Jessica Neiman's 16 kills and two aces. The Crimson Hawks held advantages over The Rock in kills (48-31), attack percentage (.267-.232), aces (9-4) and digs (56-44). SRU, which earned its highest team attack percentage of the year in the loss, edged Indiana in total blocks (5-4).
 
A 6-1 spurt by Indiana midway through the first set provided the visitors with enough cushion to trade points with The Rock down the stretch en route to the 25-21 victory in the opener.
 
Indiana closed out the sweep with a pair of decisive runs at the end of the second and third sets. IUP took four of the final five points of the second set for a 25-21 win and six of the last eight scores in the match-deciding 25-22 third set victory.
 
Slippery Rock closes out its 2025 regular season schedule with road matches 7 p.m. Nov. 14 against Gannon and 4 p.m. Nov. 15 at Edinboro.
