Rock falls short at Tiffin

The Slippery Rock women’s basketball team fell short in its final non-conference road game Wednesday at Tiffin, 82-53.

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team fell short in its final non-conference road game Wednesday at Tiffin University, 82-53.
 
With the loss, Slippery Rock dropped to 2-3 overall, while Tiffin upped its record to 4-1.
 
Sophia Hook led The Rock in scoring for the second time this season with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor overall, while knocking down three triples on four attempts. Hook rounded out her performance with two rebounds and two steals.
 
Iyanna Wade (2-of-7), Karianna Woods (3-for-11) and Kayley Joseph-Bernard all chipped in with eight points apiece. Wade and Joseph-Bernard grabbed five and six rebounds respectively, Joseph-Bernard dished out five assists and Woods picked up two steals.
 
Mairan Haggerty (7), Alyssa Gillin (3), Hannah Pugliese (2), Sarah Chawki (2), Deryn Moye (1) and Laney Bone (1) rounded out The Rock's scorers.
 
Chawki and Bone scored their first points for The Rock in this game.
 
Claudia Ierullo saw the court for the first time in her freshman season, grabbing one rebound in four minutes of action.
 
Slippery Rock and Tiffin traded baskets in the first quarter, resulting in four lead changes and two ties with the first frame ending 19-18 in favor of the Dragons. This was the first time in 2025-26 that The Rock had not won the first quarter.
 
Tiffin would retain the lead it took with 24 seconds remaining in the first quarter for the rest of the game.
 
Slippery Rock finished shooting 43.5 percent (19-of-59) from the field overall, 26.3 percent (5-for-19) from the 3-point line and 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from the charity stripe.
 
The Dragons outscored SRU by 18 in the paint (38-20). Tiffin also saw heavy production from its bench as it outpaced The Rock, 29-13, in bench scoring.
 
Tiffin ended the game shooting 53.7 percent (29-of-54) from the floor overall, 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from beyond the arc and 82.4 percent (14-of-17) from the foul line.
 
Megan Campbell led the Dragons in scoring as one of four Tiffin players to score in double-figures with 19 points. Hailey Unger and Isabelle Niederst pitched in 13 points each and Myka Richardson scored 10 points for the Dragons.
 
Slippery Rock returns to Morrow Field House for its final non-conference matchup 2 p.m. Sunday against Walsh University.
