Rock shuts out Seton Hill 3-0 on the road

The Rock women's soccer team picked up its fourth shutout in the last six games with a 3-0 win on the road at Seton Hill Wednesday.

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team went on the road to Seton Hill University and came away with a 3-0 victory in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division match Wednesday from Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
 
The Rock pick up their second straight shutout win in divisional play and improve to 6-3 overall and 6-1 against the PSAC West. Seton Hill drops to 2-7-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the PSAC West.
 
Wednesday's game marked the final game of the first round of divisional play for SRU, which picked up 18 of a possible 21 points over the first seven games. The second round of action picks up Saturday when California (Pa.) travels to Slippery Rock for a 3 p.m. game.
 
The Rock controlled the pace of play Wednesday and outshot Seton Hill 19-8 in total shots and 10-3 in shots on goal. SRU also put up a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Marissa Salisbury netted a brace with a pair of goals to lead the offense. She tallied the opener in the 30th minute off an assist from Abby Paterline and tacked on an insurance goal in the 82nd minute off a feed from Sophia Palermo.
 
Lindsey Price closed out the scoring with a marker in the 86th minute to seal the win off an assist from Briona Rice.
 
Leah Allman picked up the shutout win in goal after recording three saves. The Rock have now posted four shutouts in their last six games. 
 
Seton Hill got two shots each from Riley Baker and Jessica Molitoris while Jordan Spozarski made seven saves in goal.
 
Slippery Rock will now shift its focus to the second round of divisional play beginning Saturday when California (Pa.) visits for a 3 p.m. game at Egli Field. The Rock will also celebrate Senior Day Saturday and will recognize seven senior players prior to the game.
