SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 Senior Day victory over California (Pa.) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action Saturday at James Egi Field.

Slippery Rock improves to 7-3-0 overall and 7-1-0 in the PSAC West, while California drops to 0-9-2 on the year and 0-6-2 in the PSAC West.

Libby Zacharyasz grabbed the lone goal for The Rock, her first of the season and the 10th of her career. Allie Burns recorded her first career assist on the goal.

Leah Allman upped her record to 7-3-0 on the year and picked up her 27th career win in the process. Allman and Brianna Matteson combined for the shutout, as Allman played the first half and Matteson played the second frame.

Abby Paterline took a team-high four shots for The Rock, while Zacharayasz (3), Sophia Palermo (3), Marissa Salisbury (2) and Allie Burns (2) took multiple shots for SRU as well.

Zacharyasz pushed SRU out in front after 39 minutes of heavy pressure with a right-footed strike from outside the 18-yard box into the top right corner, giving SRU a 1-0 lead it would not relinquish.

The Vulcans played a heavily defensive game for the first 80 minutes, until they started to apply some pressure in the final moments of the game, but Matteson and the Slippery Rock defense was up to the task to finish off the shutout win.

Slippery Rock finished the game with a 20-3 advantage in shots and 10-1 edge in shots in goal, closing out its third straight shutout and fourth clean sheet in its last five games.

The Rock's 2025 senior class of Salisbury, Matteson, Zacharyasz, Abigail Koly, Briona Rice, Sydney Smith and Leah Walter had their contributions to the program recognized in a pregame Senior Day ceremony.

Slippery Rock continues PSAC West play at Edinboro 5 p.m. Oct 18. SRU earned a 3-1 victory over the Fighting Scots at home earlier in the season.
