Rock extends win streak to four with 3-1 win at Edinboro

The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team extended its winning streak to four games with a 3-1 win Saturday at Edinboro.

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team extended its winning streak to four games with a 3-1 win Saturday at Edinboro.
 
With the victory, Slippery Rock improved to 8-3-0 on the year and 8-1-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division, while Edinboro fell to 6-6-0 overall and 4-5-0 in the PSAC West.
 
Abby Paterline, Bailey McGee and Allie Burns scored one goal each. Paterline's tally was her fourth of the season, while McGee's marker was her first of the year and Burns' goal was her second of 2025.

Sydney Smith and Sophia Palermo grabbed one assist apiece. Smith's helper was her first of the season, while Palermo's assist was her team-leading fifth on the year.
 
Marissa Salisbury led SRU with five shots. Paterline (2), McGee (2) and Lilia Battalini (2) rounded out the Slippery Rock players with multiple shots.
 
Leah Allman made one save in goal to secure her 29th career victory.
 
Edinboro opened the scoring just 62 seconds into the game via Emily Vogel off an assist from Virginia Zabala, giving the Fighting Scots a 1-0 lead.
 
Slippery Rock quickly responded in the fourth minute with a strike from Paterline into the bottom left corner, tying the contest at 1-1.
 
SRU earned its first lead of the game just three minute before halftime, with McGee putting one home off an assist from Smith, giving SRU a 2-1 lead.
 
Slippery Rock entered halftime with an 8-4 advantage in shots and 5-1 in shots on goal.
 
The Rock grabbed an insurance goal in the 78th minute, when Burns took a pass from Palermo and went bar-down from the edge of the 18-yard box, giving Slippery Rock a 3-1 lead.
 
SRU finished the game with 14-7 edge in shots and 8-3 in shots on goal, closing out its fourth consecutive win.
 
Slippery Rock returns home to face-off against Indiana University (Pa.) 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium for its Breast Cancer Awareness game. Slippery Rock is looking to close-out a season sweep over the Crimson Hawks, as SRU took down IUP 2-0 on the road.
