SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team fell 4-0 to Gannon University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action Wednesday at James Egli Field.
Slippery Rock drops to 3-5-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the PSAC West, while Gannon's record improves to 4-2-3 overall and 2-0-1 in the PSAC West.
Cornelis Dedecker and
Aashi Pandher led The Rock with three shots apiece, while each putting one shot on goal.
Zsombor Retfalvi was the only other Rock player with multiple shots (2).
Alvey Kaufman matched his career-high with four saves in the loss.
The Rock had the majority of the possession for the first 30 minutes, but Gannon took a 1-0 lead in the 35
th minute on a corner kick that went straight into the goal from Jensen Peake.
The Golden Knights doubled their lead in the 40
th minute off a well-placed free-kick from 25 yards out into the top left corner from Peake to complete a brace, giving Gannon a 2-0 advantage.
Gannon entered halftime with a 7-3 lead in shots and a 4-0 edge in shots on goal.
The Golden Knights added two goals in the second half in the 48
th and 64
th minute, both scored by Sverre Orten. Per Kristian Lauvstad and Enzo Rekka picked up one assist each on the brace from Orten.
Gannon closed out its 4-0 victory with a 13-10 advantage in shots and a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
