The Slippery Rock men’s soccer team hosts Seton Hill for Senior Day as the race to the PSAC Tournament heats up noon Saturday at James Egli Field.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team hosts Seton Hill University for Senior Day as the race to the Pennsyvlania State Athletic Conference Tournament heats up noon Saturday at James Egli Field.
 
Slippery Rock enters the match with a 6-5-2 record overall and a 3-2-1 mark in the PSAC West, while Seton Hills owns a 7-5-1 overall record and a 3-2-1 PSAC West record.

SERIES HISTORY
Slippery Rock and Seton Hill first played each other in 2008, with The Rock claiming a 3-0 victory. Since the inaugural matchup, the two teams have played every season and faced off a total of 23 times. SRU owns a 9-12-2 record overall against Seton Hill and a 6-6-1 record in at home against the Griffins.
 
THE FIRST TIME AROUND
Slippery Rock and Seton Hill faced off in Greensburg, Pennsylvania Oct. 4, where the Griffins claimed a 3-1 win over The Rock. Kaden Reynolds was the lone goal scorer for SRU, while Alvey Kaufman made four saves in the loss.

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock and Lock Haven University played to a 0-0 draw Wednesday at Hubert Jack Stadium.
 
Reynolds led The Rock with three shots, followed by Massimo Cuda with two shots. Zsombor Retfalvi and Colton Swanson accounted for Slippery Rock's final two shots with one apiece. Swanson recorded SRU's lone shot on goal.
 
Kaufman started in goal and recorded three saves in his shutout effort. He has not surrendered a goal in his last three appearances.
 
Lock Haven finished the game with a 13-7 advantage in shots and 3-1 in shots on goal.  

STANDINGS CHECK
The match against Seton Hill marks the seventh of 10 PSAC West games for SRU. As the regular season begins to wind down, Slippery Rock sits in a tie for second place in the division with Seton Hill. Both teams hold 10 points and are just four behind Gannon University for first place in the division. Lock Haven is currently just one point behind The Rock and Seton Hill for a spot in the PSAC Tournament. Pitt-Johnstown is also only three points out of a postseason berth. 

The Rock's position in the standings is important as the top three teams in each division make the PSAC Tournament at the end of the regular season.
 
SHUTDOWN DEFENSE
The Slippery Rock defense has shut the door on its opponents in its last four games with consecutive shutouts against California (Pa.), Daemen University, Pitt-Johnstown and Lock Haven. The last time SRU had four consecutive shutouts was in 2015, when it earned wins over Lock Haven and Pitt-Johnstown with a combined score of 12-0, followed by back-to-back 1-0 wins over California and Mercyhurst University. The 2015 season was the most recent PSAC Championship victory for SRU.
 
The Rock will be going for five clean sheets in a row for the first time since 1947, the third time in program history and first time in the modern era. The first time Slippery Rock achieved five consecutive shutouts was in 1939.

UNBEATEN IN FOUR STRAIGHT
The tie against Lock Haven stretched SRU's unbeaten streak to a season-long four games, which is tied for the second longest such streak inside the program dating back to 2016.
 
SENIOR DAY CELEBRATION
Slippery Rock will honor four seniors who are taking part in their last season with SRU prior to Saturday's game.
 
Colton Spence – A defender from Cheswick, Pennsylvania, Spence transferred to Slippery Rock from Division I Robert Morris University. He made 17 appearances at Robert Morris from 2021-23. Spence has been a crucial part to SRU's defensive backline for the last two seasons. Spence has started all 31 games he has played in at The Rock. He has accumulated two goals and one assist in his collegiate career. Spence was a second-team All-PSAC West selection in 2024.
 
Ethan Boland – A defender from Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, Boland transferred to Slippery Rock from Frostburg State University. He made two appearances while at Frostburg State in 2022, while being named Mountain East Conference All-Academic. Boland has made eight career appearances at Slippery Rock over the last three seasons. This year, Boland has made a career-high four appearances. Boland is a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
 
Jack Smith – A defender from Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, Smith has made 15 starts in 58 career appearances over four years at The Rock. He has registered three assists during his time at SRU. Smith has logged 2,145 minutes (36.9 minutes/game) on the pitch during his four-year career.
 
Rocco Birns – A forward from Allentown, Pennsylvania, Birns has seen action in 21 games over four years at Slippery Rock. He a played in a career-high 11 games this season. Birns is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
 
FIVE IN A ROW
Reynolds has scored five goals in the last four games, and the last five goals overall for SRU. The last time a Slippery Rock player scored five straight goals for the team was in 2009, when Jeremy Deighton scored five straight goals against Lock Haven, California and West Chester University.

STOPPING THE PK
Slippery Rock has not conceded a penalty kick this season on three attempts. The first PK came at Roberts Wesleyan University when Kaufman made a diving stop to his right. The last two PK's have come in back-to-back games and ended with Pitt-Johnstown and Lock Haven both missing the goal on their attempts.
 
LEADING THE ROCK
Reynolds has paced The Rock offense with 17 points and eight goals. Retfalvi (7) and Cornelis Dedecker (8) round out The Rock's top three scorers.
 
Retfalvi, Irani and Gabin Lonjard trail Reynolds for the Slippery Rock goal lead with two each. Dedecker, Aashi Pandher and Patrick Tierney all have one tally for The Rock.

Dedecker leads all SRU players with five assists each, while Retfalvi trails the forward by one helper. Pandher and Cuda sit behind the two forwards by two and three assists respectively. Irani ans Swanson have both collected one assist.
 
Pandher and Reynolds lead SRU with 24 shots through 13 games. Dedecker trails the two forwards by four shots, while Lonjard and Retfalvi have accumulated 14 shots each. Pandher leads The Rock with 13 shots on goal.

Spence leads The Rock in minutes played with 1,151. Spence's defensive partner's Lonjard and Tierney trail the senior in minutes with 1,128 and 1,106 respectively. 

THE ROCK IN GOAL
Slippery Rock has played three different goalkeepers during its 2025 campaign. Kaufman and Troy Nine have split time with Dylan Bliss appearing in one game this season. Kaufman owns a 3-4-2 record with 27 saves on a .675 save percentage, while allowing 13 goals for a 1.38 goals against average.
 
Nine is 3-1-0 with seven saves on a .700 save percentage, while allowing three goals for a 0.86 GAA with two shutouts.

DIVISION II LEADERS
Reynolds ranks 23rd in the nation in total goals with eight and 16th in Division II with three game-winning goals.

Dedecker sits 34th in the country in total assist with five.
 
PSAC LEADERS
Slippery Rock has multiple players near the top of PSAC leaderboards so far this season. Reynolds ranks second in the PSAC in goals with eight and fourth in the conference in points with 17.
 
Dedecker currently sits second in the PSAC in assists with five helpers, while Retfalvi ranks fifth with four assists. Dedecker also ranks third in the conference in assists per game with 0.38, while Retfavli sits ninth in that category with 0.31.

Pandher ranks fifth in the PSAC in shot accuracy with a .542 mark.

Reynolds leads conference with three game-winning goals, while Irani sits fifth in that category with two game-winners.
 
Kaufman ranks eighth in the PSAC in saves per game with 2.70 and fourth in shutouts with three.

SETON HILL SCOUTING REPORT
The Griffins have had a rollercoaster of a 2025 season so far. Seton Hill started off with four wins in its first five games, before dropping its next three matchups. SHU responded by ushering a three-game winning streak before going winless in its last two matches heading into Saturday.
 
James Aubrey, a junior from Hertfordshire, England, leads Seton Hill with six goals and 13 points this season. Rowan Aisenbrey and Julian Marker follow Aubrey with three goals apiece. Eight other Griffins have at least one tally this season.
 
Aisenbrey has paced the Griffins with four assists. Marker and Felix Knorn trail Aisenbrey with three assists each. Nine other Seton Hill players have at least one assist in 2025.
 
Jannik Reiss has started all 13 games in goal for Seton Hill this year. Jensen has a 7-5-1 record with 30 saves for a .566 save percentage and has allowed 23 goals for a 1.80 GAA.
