KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost on the road Saturday at No. 1 Kutztown University, 7-0, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition.
Following Saturday's results, Slippery Rock's record stands at 5-8 overall and 1-4 inside the PSAC. Top-ranked Kutztown remains undefeated at 14-0 overall and 6-0 in the PSAC with the win.
Kutztown scored three goals in the first quarter and two more in the second for a 5-0 halftime lead before adding two more tallies over the final 30 minutes in the shutout win.
Madison Shomo,
Riley Cloude and
Coral Piramo recorded one shot on goal apiece to lead The Rock.
Hilary Hoffman registered two total shots as well while
Christina Clymer added another off-target attempt.
Goalkeeper
Leah Riegling made 14 saves over 60 minutes.
For the game, Kutztown held advantages over The Rock in total shots (29-6), shots on goal (21-3) and penalty corners (19-4).
Slippery Rock returns home to host second-ranked Shippensburg University 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium for the program's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game.
