SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost at home to No. 2 Shippensburg University, 3-0, Wednesday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
With the loss, The Rock's record moves to 5-9 overall and 1-6 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference while the nationally ranked Raiders improve to 13-2 overall and 5-2 in league games.
Leah Riegling made 11 stops and
Christina Clymer had a defensive save to pace The Rock's defensive efforts while
Lucy Hutchinson led SRU's offense with two shots.
Shippensburg scored a pair of first half goals before adding an insurance tally in the fourth quarter for the shutout.
The Raiders held advantages over SRU in total shots (20-2), shots on goal (15-0) and penalty corners (3-1). Elaina Fragassi scored two goals in leading Shippensburg.
Slippery Rock returns to competition noon Saturday against No. 6 West Chester University on Senior Day at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
