LEWISBURG, Pa. – Anna Igims broke her own school record and won the 3,000-meter steeplechase to headline the Slippery Rock University women's track & field team's performance at the Bison Outdoor Classic that wrapped up Sunday from Bucknell University.
 
The Rock sent just six women's distance runners to Bucknell, while the rest of the team competed either at Susquehanna or Westminster earlier in the weekend. The Bison Outdoor Classic is one of the largest meets in the region and one of the top meets for distance runners in the region every year.
 
Igims headlined the SRU efforts when she won the steeplechase Saturday evening with an NCAA provisional time of 10:34.38, which broke her own school record of 10:39.07 by nearly five seconds. That performance moves her from 17th on the Division II leaderboard this spring up to No. 11. She was joined by Maddie Grillo, who took 23rd with a PSAC qualifying time of 11:34.20.
 
Slippery Rock also got an NCAA provisional mark from Katie Plassio, who posted a career-best effort in the invitational section of the 10,000-meter run Saturday night with a time of 36:10.10.
 
Ruthie Hughes also put up a career-best and won the unseeded section of the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:45.78.
 
The Rock closed out the two days of action with Jennifer Cichra tallying a pair of PSAC qualifying efforts. She posted times of 2:19.53 in the 800-meter run and 4:54.79 in the 1,500-meter run. Madison Murtland narrowly missed the PSAC standard in both races, posting times of 2:24.84 in the 800-meter run and 4:56.99 in the 1,500-meter run.
 
Slippery Rock will bring its full team back together next week for the John Papa Invitational hosted by SRU Thursday afternoon.
