Lydia Latimer recorded an NCAA provisional score in the heptathlon to lead the Slippery Rock University track & field teams at the Susquehanna Riverhawk Multi Meet that wrapped up Friday evening from Susquehanna University.

The Rock split their teams this weekend to three different meets with the multi-event athletes opening the week of competition Thursday and Friday.

Latimer headlined the SRU performances by placing second overall in the seeded section of the heptathlon with a career-best score of 4,566 points, which is just above the NCAA standard of 4,504 points. Latimer nearly won the event, finishing just 10 points shy of the winner. During the seven events of the competition, she also hit the PSAC standard in two events with a time of 15.58 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and a clearance of 1.60 meters in the high jump.

Lorna Speigle was fifth in the event with a score of 4,338 points, followed by
Maddy Miller in eighth with a score of 3,999 points and
Leighanne Swan in 11th with a score of 3,648 points. Miller also hit he PSAC standard in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.60 seconds.

Slippery Rock had four men split into two different sections of the decathlon at the meet.
Gavin Thomas and
Zack Duda competed in the seeded section, while
Ethan Folmer and
Kyle Adams were in the unseeded section.

Thomas took ninth in the event with a score of 5,891 points. He also hit the PSAC standard in the long jump with a leap of 6.95 meters. Duda was 13th in the seeded section with a score of 3,808 points, but he did not finish any of the last three running events, scoring zero points on those three events.

Folmer won the unseeded section with a score of 5,452 points with Adams taking fifth with a score of 4,809 points.

The rest of The Rock teams will be in action Saturday and Sunday with a majority of the team competing at Westminster College Saturday and select distance runners competing at Bucknell Saturday and Sunday.
