CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team recorded 19 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and one NCAA provisional mark at the Charlotte 49er Classic that was hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from Thursday through Saturday.

The highlight of the outdoor season opener came from
Anna Igims, who took second in the 5,000-meter run with a career-best and NCAA provisional time of 16:49.33. That mark was just off the SRU record of 16:45.80 set by Jenny Picot in 2016. Igims led The Rock's distance runners to a total of seven PSAC qualifying marks over the three days.

Ruthie Hughes and
Chelsea Hunt both met the standard in the 10,000-meter run with Hughes finishing ninth in 39:02 and Hunt taking 11th in 40:20.
Maddie Grillo had the next-highest finish behind Igims with a fourth place showing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:37.10.
Jennifer Cichra tallied PSAC marks in both the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meter run. She was 20th in the 800m in 2:21.91 and took 38th in the 1,500m in 4:51.54, placing one spot behind
Madison Murtland in 37th in 4:51.51.

Regan Johnson led the sprinters with a pair of PSAC marks in the short sprints. She took 12th in the 100-meter dash in 12.46 seconds and was 26th in the 200-meter dash in 25.63 seconds.
Rachel Veneziano rounded out the top efforts on the track with a PSAC mark in the 400-meter hurdles, where she was 13th in 1:06.83.

Lydia Latimer and
Lorna Speigle both placed in the top 10 in the heptathlon in a field that included 22 total athletes. Latimer was fifth with 4,284 points, with Speigle in ninth with 4,132 points. Latimer also hit the PSAC standard in the high jump with a clearance of 1.58 meters.

The Rock's throwers recorded five PSAC marks over the three days, led by the shot put trio of
Becca Martin,
Olivia Heckman and
Savannah Schneck. Martin was 13th with a toss of 13.27 meters, followed by Heckman in 17th at 12.97 meters and Schneck in 24th at 12.52 meters.

Isabella Bartoletti was the highest finisher in the throws with a fifth place showing in the javelin, where she recorded a mark of 40.39 meters.
Tiffany Jolayemi rounded out the PSAC marks in the throws with an 18th place finish in the hammer with a toss of 47.19 meters.

The final PSAC marks of the weekend came in the jumps, where
Cassidy Davis led the way with a pair of qualifying marks. She won the unseeded section of the high jump with a clearance of 1.62 meters and took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.42 meters.
Allie Taylor won the unseeded section of the pole vault with a clearance of 3.45 meters to cap the qualifying efforts.
