LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University quarterback
Brayden Long and kicker
Mason Yohn were recognized with weekly awards by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for their performances in The Rock's win at Clarion.
Â
Long, a senior from Hanover, Pennsylvania, was named the PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and Yohn, a sophomore from Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, was named the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Â
The awards came after Slippery Rock posted a 38-22 victory on the road at Clarion Thursday night.
Â
Long threw for a season-high 399 yards with four touchdown passes, no interceptions and no sacks. The 399 yards are the second-most in a game by any QB in the PSAC West this year and the four TD passes tie for the most by any PSAC QB in a single-game this year.
Â
Thursday's game marked the sixth time in eight outings this year that Long has not thrown an interception or been sacked.
Â
Yohn picks up his first weekly award of the year after stepping into the placekicking role for the first time this season. He was perfect in the kicking game Thursday night, going 5-for-5 on PAT kicks and connecting on a 36-yard field goal to give SRU its first made field goal since week three at Shippensburg.
Â
The Rock moved up four spots to No. 10 in this week's Division II national rankings and return to action at home this Saturday with a 1 p.m. kickoff against Seton Hill.
