CALIFORNIA, Pa. — The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team controlled the pace of play against California (Pa.), but was forced to settle for a 0-0 tie Saturday afternoon on the road.

The draw improves Slippery Rock's record to 5-3-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division. Cal fell to 2-5-2 overall and 1-4-2 within the PSAC West.

Morgan Sarver led The Rock in scoring opportunities, placing four of her five shots on net.
Skylar Munnikhuysen and
Libby Zacharyasz both registered a pair of shots, each with one on target.
Maddie DeLucio,
Jaime Dermotta and
Sydney Patrick each chipped in with one shot.

Leah Allman notched her fourth career shutout in the effort.

The Rock checked in with two shots and two corner kicks within the first 20 minutes, highlighted by Sarver's 18
th minute attack that drilled the crossbar.

By halftime, Slippery Rock held an edge in shots (6-2) and corner kicks (2-0).

Cal's Veronica Warunek took a shot 23 seconds into the second half, but Allman kept the Vulcans out of the net with one of her two saves on the day. Cal would not see another shot until the 75
th minute, its last opportunity of the match.

Slippery Rock took six corner kicks in the second half and put up another six shots, but Emily Ouimet's eight saves for the Vulcans kept The Rock off the board.

In total, Slippery Rock held an advantage in total shots (12-4), shots on goal (8-2) and corner kicks (8-2).

The Rock will now enjoy their bye week, returning 1 p.m. Oct. 7 to host Seton Hill University at James Egli Field.
