PUEBLO, Colo. – Slippery Rock University senior thrower
Trinity Clark closed her career with a 13th place finish in the javelin at the NCAA Division II National Championships Saturday afternoon at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Â
Clark finished fourth in the first flight of the javelin with a throw of 43.21 meters (141'9") and eventually finished 13th overall, just missing out on an All-America finish by one place. It would have been her third consecutive All-America award.
Â
The senior from Kane, Pennsylvania finished in the top 13 at nationals in each of the final three years of her career with a 10th place showing in 2021, a third place finish in 2022 and a 13th place finish this spring. She closes her career as a two-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion and a two-time All-American.
"I'm really proud of Trinity and grateful for her time here at Slippery Rock," said head coach
Bill Jordan. "She chose to come back this year to use her last season of eligibility, even though she had already accomplished so much. She helped us win a team title two weeks ago and gets to leave SRU as a two-time conference champion, two-time All-American and a three-time national qualifier. That's a pretty awesome career."
Â
Clark was one of two women from SRU to qualify for the outdoor national meet, joining
Anna Igims, who placed 15th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Thursday night. The Rock men will be represented later in the day Saturday by Dalton Anderson (javelin) and John Eakin (shot put) to close out the final SRU Athletics event in 2022-23.
