GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track and field team recorded 16 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, one NCAA provisional mark and won six events at the Grove City Mini Invitational Wednesday evening at Grove City College.

The NCAA mark came from
Sarah Corrie in the shot put, where she registered an outdoor career-best effort of 14.21 meters to win the event.
Olivia Heckman also hit the PSAC standard in the shot put with a third place finish and a toss of 12.22 meters.

Slippery Rock swept the top five places in the pole vault with all five SRU finishers topping the PSAC standard in the event.
Kendall Grossman won the competition via tiebreaker as
Olivia Sentle,
Allie Taylor and
Sarah Schneider all matched Grossman at 3.40 meters.
Hanna Zeiler took fifth at 3.25 meters.

The Rock also picked up a win in the field from
Aleks Brozeski, who led a 1-2 sweep for SRU in the triple jump with a leap of 11.52 meters.
Alice Bogia was second at 10.89 meters.

Slippery Rock won both short sprints and took the 4x100-meter relay crown Wednesday.
Samantha Gilbert won the 200-meter dash in 25.68 seconds to lead a 1-2-3 sweep.
Haley Morgan also hit the PSAC standard in second at 25.80 seconds and
Layne Miller was third at 26.57 seconds.
Thai-Lin Pierce won the 100-meter dash in 12.64 seconds into a headwind. Morgan was second in 12.69 seconds and
Asia Murray was third in 12.75 seconds. Morgan, Gilbert, Pierce and
Regan Johnson teamed up to win the 4x100m in 47.77 seconds. Morgan and Miller then teamed with Murray and
Madison Olsen to take second in the 4x400-meter relay to close the meet in 4:10.66.

Gilbert also hit the PSAC standard in the long jump with a fourth place finish and a leap of 5.31 meters. SRU closed out its PSAC qualifying efforts in the field with
Paige Griffith taking third in the high jump at 1.57 meters and
Tiffany Jolayemi finishing third in the discus with a throw of 37.74 meters.

The Rock picked up two PSAC marks in the hurdle races with
Chaley Younkin placing second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.56 seconds and
Rachel Veneziano finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.62.

Wednesday's meet marked the first of four straight days of competition for SRU this week. The team will send a small group of multi-event athletes to Susquehanna University Thursday and Friday to compete in a heptathlon. The Rock's hammer throwers will throw at home Friday at 2 p.m. as part of the Westminster Invitational (Westminster does not have a competition hammer cage) and the full team will return to action Saturday at the Westminster Invitational.
